legend of heroes: trails of the sky intial impressions

Because Steam was having a sale, and FFXV is still a bit off, I bit the bullet and decided to finally pick up the terribly named The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky. Despite the incredibly generic title, I’ve heard a lot of good buzz around this game, especially over at Kotaku, and decided it was about time I gave this beloved modern-classic ( Read more... )

I've been really into Ys series recently, and it seems fans of Ys tend to be fans of Trails in the Sky (and pretty much every Nihon Falcom game, really), so I've been curious about trying it out. I got a Vita a while back for SaGa SCARLET GRACE but that game looks like it may never even come out now or something, so it would be nice to have some Vita games. Though I'd rather have the game on Steam honestly ( ... )

I've heard good things about the Ys series. I think I'd like to give it a try.

So far there haven't been any old PC dudes, but I actually thought of you because the mayor of the starting town is an older guy I think you would really dig. He's kind, sorta bumbling, with a love of gardening and really nice facial hair.

For how old school and classic the game feels, it's got some great in-game community and unique ticks that have made it a worthwhile experience. It can be difficult for me to find the time to spend on a hundred hour RPGs, despite my love of them, and I don't feel like my time is being wasted in the slightest-- which is a big thing for me now.

I dunno if I mentioned it to you before, but I found a copy of Unlimited SaGa at a local used game store a few years back. I think about you every time I see it! I haven't started it yet, but it's on my list haha ( ... )

Ys is really great. If you like action RPG with really fun gameplay and nails-tough boss battles that take a lot of practice, you will love it (though if you don't care for the difficulty as much, there are many difficulty options from babies-could-button-mash-and-win to spend-three-days-practicing-the-boss-so-you-can-beat-it)

Since Ys is just about a single player character, I'm perfectly fine with just loving all the random old guys elsewhere in the game :) So far every game has given me plenty of fangirling material hahaha. So if there's enough of that in Trails, maybe I can forgive it. It's important for me in party-based games to get really attached to at least one character, and looking at the art of the player characters from Trails I think they all look super boring :\ But I mean I'm just referring to the design/appearance ( ... )
