>ALL IN A DAY'S WORK [GUL DUKAT | OPEN ]

Jun 26, 2009 12:09

[It took Gul Dukat a moment, but only a moment, to realize that he was not where he was supposed to be. He slapped a palm to the device on his forearm.]

Dukat to the Zhelek. This is not Terok Nor. Kindly explain your incompetence.

[After getting no response, he swept his gaze up and down the promenade. It looked similar to his former command post ( Read more... )

[ does gaila need a reason to be on the promenade? she does not.

she just was, and was alarmed to run into a cardassian, but not altogether displeased. about damn time there was someone to bat for the diversity team other than herself. of course, then she noticed the pistol. maybe it would be best not to say anything. ]

[Dukat's first instinct is to leer at the green-skinned beauty. But he's still wary. The prettiest of angels can become the most deadly of foes in the blink of an eye. He'd learned that during the Occupation. So he tilted his head instead, and walked forward slowly. His hand rested casually at his hip, a reminder, not a threat.]

Tell me...What space station is this?

[ right. green skin wasn't stealthy.

she didn't like the predatory hint in his walk, and instinctively squared her shoulders. her voice stayed even. ]

Shtel Nor. It's a nexus. People are pulled here all the time, but no one knows how to get back.

[He threw back his head and laughed.]

You can't be serious. It's called that? Someone definitely has a sense of humor.

[His gaze swept the area.]

It certainly does look like a cardassian outpost. Just not the one I was expecting.

But...

[He eyes her again, his smile turning a little dangerous.]

Perhaps a little diversion from my intended port of call wouldn't be such a bad thing.

[ she should pull her phaser on this man, but she can't do anything beyond stare at the cardassian before her. this was the man who killed jadzia and ezri remembered it--vividly and couldn't help but flash back to the orb and dukat and the pain and worf and benjamin and julian and the symbiont... she'd died eight times and it never got any easier; nor did dealing with what or who killed you. shuttles still made her nervous at times thanks to torias' accident. she should just walk off and inform someone, but her legs won't work. so she keeps staring and hopes he just leaves or better yet, goes back wherever the hell it is he came from. ]

[He noticed a petite girl with spots staring at him. Almost as if she knew him. He considered for a moment, and then advanced towards her.]

You're not the usual trill I've met. But this isn't Terok Nor, is it.

[He looks her up and down.]

You're still Federation, though...

[His tone is laden with a touch of scorn.]

Is this an abduction?

[ it takes ezri mentally repeating psychological babble that she'd normally direct at a patient than herself to snap out of her stunned state and even she's surprised by how calmly she responds to her former host's murderer ]

This isn't DS9. It's Shtel Nor.

[ she tenses, but doesn't return the tone ]

Yes, but the Federation isn't responsible. We're all victims here.

I see.

[He gave her one of his trademark crocodile smiles.]

I would hesitate before labelling me a victim just yet.

[His gaze becomes more penetrating.]

You recognize me. You know who I am, don't you.

[Because Dukat needs some MANLY MEN to talk to, have a Bones, sitting at the bar glancing over a PADD most unhelpful tag ever.]

[He strode over to what looked like a poor imitation of Quark's.]

You there. What is this place? Is this some kind of trick?

[McCoy looks up from his PADD at that bark and looks over at the-... is that a Cardassian? Yes, it is.]

Shtel Nor. And it's no trick, unless they managed to spike all our drinks and messed with the transporter circuits.

Shtel Nor?!

[He chuckled, moving closer and taking in his surroundings.]

If it were Quark's I might believe the spiked drinks. And messed transporter circuits could easily be Bajoran terrorism.

But this is not Deep Space Nine. Of that much I am certain.

[He regarded him for a moment, as if assessing if he was worth deigning to question further.]

Who's in charge?

[ Dawson was taking time to make sure the replicators around the bar were in working order as well. He didn't drink, wasn't a fan of it, but it seemed to be a lifeline for many others on the station. ]

[Some grunt appeared to be tinkering nearby so he approached him, and tapped on the top of the replicator.]

Since you're not doing anything of vital importance, how about you explain why I have ended up here and not on Deep Space Nine.

The same way we all have?

[ He peaked over top of the replicator. ... that guy looked weird. ]

Which is? Be more specific.

[The young human looked barely old enough to be a glinn]

Co-operation has its rewards.

[ A Cardassian on the station was something that very much alarmed Holly. The Cardassians had not been on the station for some amount of years and it could lead to something dangerous for the inhabitants.

Thus at the nearest terminal she began to form. ]

Fascinating. What are you?

[He says it slowly, as if examining a specimen for the first time.]

I have not seen this kind of technology before.

I am the hologram of Shtel Nor's systems and database.

[He takes in her glowing pink skin and lack of neck ridges.]

You are not of Cardassian design, though. And this station is, from what I have seen so far. Something doesn't add up.

What are your specific functions here on the station, hologram?
