[ she'd just come from the mess, where she ate soup like he had something to prove. she'd been alone the whole time, her expression not inviting of company. no one interesting had walked in anyway, and she wasn't sure how that made her feel, though she was in a permanent state of annoyance since her fight with julian

[Odo had been spending time in the arboretum, experimenting with various forms both animate and inanimate. When the Orion known as Gaila entered, he was currently flitting about the branches as a bajoran fantail He contemplated turning back into his humanoid form, but didn't want to alarm her. Perhaps if he made his way nearer the exit...]

[ she hadn't been in the arboretum more than once before, but she'd never seen a bird before - or any small creature on the entire space station, other than tribbles. it caught her attention enough for her to stop in her tracks and just stare at it appreciatively. ]

[He'd caught her attention, her face was upturned, her eyes following his movements. So, he wasn't doing a bad imitation after all. He decided to show off a little, perhaps get her to smile.

He perched on a closer branch, spreading out his tail feathers and shuffling back and forth on it.

Then he darted closer, almost hovering before returning to the branch again.]

[ it was incredibly cute, but sadly she wasn't in the mood to smile. she followed its movements, a little fascinated. there was a bench nearby; she took her eyes off it for a moment to take a seat. ]

[Her double was already there, reading from a PADD and sitting at a bench. She'd located one in her quarters before and had decided she was getting tired of holing up and feeling sorry for herself, hence her time in the garden.

It had been working, her attempt at finding peace, until she noticed the scent of pheromones in the air - her own scent.

And her hand immediately went to her phaser, PADD knocked aside and forgotten.]

[ she hadn't even noticed her other self until the padd hit the ground. then the presence of pheromones was abundantly clear and she felt like an idiot for getting so absorbed in her thoughts. she approached her counterpart slowly, hands up in mock arrest. ]

I'm normal. Promise.

[Her eyes were still narrowed, hand still on her weapon, but she let her shoulders relax a tiny bit.]

[ gaila sighed and turned. her ensign uniform didn't leave much room for mysterious compartments, and she had no weapons on her. ]
