[uhura had been searching the campus frantically for over an hour trying to find commander spock. she was going to kill kirk for this - he'd apparently been experimenting with programming or electronics or something along those lines, and as a result, every alarm clock in the dorms in their building had failed to go off. which meant she'd missed the placement test for advanced phonology, a class she'd been very eager to take next year.

finally, she found him sitting underneath a tree - one that she enjoyed studying under as well, she noted - and approached him, hands held respectfully behind her back. she cleared her throat to get his attention before speaking.]

There was an entrance exam for Advanced Phonology this morning that I had intended to take, but as you may have heard, there was an incident in the dorms that prevented me from being able to take it. I do not know which incident you are referring to. However, you do appear to be uninjured and possessing of your full mental faculties.

Therefore, I can only assume that whatever 'prevented' you from being able to take the placement test this morning was of a somewhat minor nature.

You may have intended to take the exam. However, you did not.

Perhaps next year you will ensure that you are present in order to qualify for consideration.
