[ Nia's looking around the holodecks with an expression of awe and childish giddiness on her face. Her face lights up in a smile, even as her hands clench on the fabric of the simple dress she was wearing. A small giggle escapes her lips as she makes her way to the bar, and then to a table so she can sit and observe the goings-on of the night. ]

[ Dawson had come earlier when there weren't a lot of people there. Then suddenly the place filled up with a band and a singer and a bartender. Bartender? Well, Dawson wasn't one to drink off or on duty. So he had made his way over to the bar then caught the sight of Nia. R-right. He should probably apologize for not talking to her about the holodeck thing.

So he walked over and tugged his suit jacket down. ]

H-Hey, Harness.

[ Nia looks up at him and smiles softly. ]

Dawson. Please, sit down. Unless... you like standing. Then you can stand.

[ Fidgetfidget. ]

Oh, no, I - uh.

[ He decided to sit down and shut up before he said anything worse. His eyes glanced around the room before turning back to her and trying to start a conversation. ]

Seems like our uh, Seaworld thing is gonna have to wait.

[ Kirk was one for parties. Though this party he had no idea what to do in. New territory, fancy suits, and booze. Well he had known what people did in history PADDs... but that hardly counted. So he strode in after having a brief conversation with Holly in a dark blue suit, white tie, and light blue shirt on. Holly herself seemed to be enjoying what the night would bring.

And the first place Kirk hit? The bar. Of course at a table close enough to laugh at the dancing. ]

[ Chekov's a little out of sorts in the holodeck atmosphere, but he was all but craving some interaction after the boring days that Holly locked down the station. So, dressed in an outfit that's not quite suited for this atmosphere, even if it is somewhat twenties, he shuffles towards that man with a drink in his hand and a demeanor Chekov recognizes. ]

Keptin.

Chekov. Off duty, night out on the town, call me Kirk at least. Captain is so damn formal right now.

[ Though the Captain threw him a grin. ]

[ He nods, more than a bit surprised. ]

Yes, Kep--... Kirk.

[ He makes a bit of a face. It feels wrong to call him that without "Keptin" coming before it. ]

[ it was amazing on many levels, but for nyota uhura, the most amazing part was the sheer relief that she felt at having an opportunity to relax. she hadn't been doing much with the work rooms locked down, but this was different than wandering, idling, thinking, and preparing. this was an actual activity and one that she enjoyed.

gently brushing her hair back out of her eyes, uhura smoothed down the hem of her dress as she slipped into the slowly growing crowd. this was the perfect opportunity to mingle, and she certainly wasn't going to let anything get in her way.

she'd track down her jim soon enough. she couldn't wait to see the look on his face. ]

U-Uhura!

[ Dawson made his way over and offered a dorky smile at her. He wasn't sure which one she was at first. Though he figured he would find out soon enough. ]

Zed!

[ no place for ranks, titles, or formalities in this setting. ]

I'm glad to see so many are taking advantage of this. It's amazing, isn't it?

[ --oh, uhura from home! ]

I-it is! I think I'm kind of dressed wrong but uhm... t-that's nothing new.

[ She for one was glad that the agitation of the rest day had gone away. It was getting on her own nerves constantly sensing the restlessness on the station. Thus she had gone to the holodecks in order to see where everyone was headed... and why they were dressed so differently. Holly explained to her that in ocassions such as this, people dressed up for a night "out on the town."

Holly then helped her pick an outfit. A pink party dress. It fit more of the early twenty-first century, but Holly assured her it would be fine. Then the empath moved into the club in pure awe. ]

[The poor girl seemed to be a little overwhelmed as she entered, so he moved quickly over to her to help in any way he could. It was somewhat daunting- even to him- and he could only imagine how it was for her.]

You appear to be somewhat dazed.

It is not quite so overwhelming as it appears at first, I assure you. Though, your position is somewhat unique.

[ Thinking back at it, Smith wasn't sure why she came. She certainly didn't have a date nor did she really feel like celebrating. Though maybe that would change once she was there long enough. Holly had complimented her black dress and matching heels and wished her a good evening. Except once she had grabbed her drink she automatically made a b-line for the second floor of the club. She settled down in a chair and crossed her legs, deciding to watch from above. ]

[Julian noticed that Linnette had moved up to the second floor. It looked like a good vantage point to observe what was going on, and be somewhat removed from it. He took a glass of bourbon with him and smiled gently at her when he approached.]

Hiding from someone? Or just not in the mood to be all happy, happy, joy, joy?

He's not here to hide from. Sort of defeats the purpose of it.

[ She looked up at him for a moment before looking down at the party again. Part of her wanted to go out on that dance floor and show off. But she didn't have a partner. Sure, she could ask Lanford. But word was that Lanford had someone and she didn't want mixed signatures. ]

[Julian took a sip of his drink, and looked out on the crowd below, one elbow leaning on the railing.]

Well, that's not good. These kinds of functions aren't much fun attending alone. I suppose being up here means we don't have to mingle and pretend we're enjoying ourselves, at least.
