[ Jimena spent all of yesterday in bed, sleeping off a migraine but today... today it's worse. She woke up with her head feeling like it was about to explode and her nose was bleeding. She threw off the blankets to her bed and threw on some shorts, keeping her eyes closed as much as she could and trying desperately not to run into anything as she

He was on his way back up to the observation deck to at least try and get something done- not that he actually expected to seeing as he was unable to think long enough to add two and two, let alone solve for subspace- but as he rounded the corner he forgot entirely what it was he was planning on doing in favor of what he was supposed to be doing.
He moved quickly over to her, dropping into a crouch and sliding an arm around her shoulders, concern writing itself across his face.]
What is it? What happened?

[ Jimena just leans into Deven and grabs his uniform shirt, clenching it in her fist. ]
Head hurts like a bitch. I was going to go see Bones.
Bones? This another guy? I was right, you really are a slut.
Shut up! Shut up, shut up, shut up...
[ She buries her head into Deven's shoulder and mumbles angrily. ]
Just lemme the fuck alone, Frank, you bastard. You've done enough.

[It became rapidly obvious, though, that she wasn't speaking to him, and he found himself cursing out loud- and he hadn't in years.]
Oh hell...
[It was the same with the captain, seeing things that weren't there. Painful things. And it was all he could do to keep from screaming and knocking his head into the wall.
He grabbed her chin and lifted her face so that he could look directly into her eyes as he answered, as urgently and directly as he had done when he had told Picard that there were no borg standing ready.]
Listen to me. There's no one there. Whatever it is isn't real. Anything you hear is a lie.

He's right there, Deven. I can see him!
So not only are you screwing around, you're doing it with complete idiots. It figures. Bird of a feather flock together after all.
Dammit! Shut up! He's not an idiot and I'm not a-- just shut up!

And so, he had taken it upon himself to go and look for her and ensure she was alright. He could have asked Holly, but the program seemed to have an uncooperative attitude towards him of late.
As he stalked down the corridor, ignoring the ache in his cranium, he was surprised to find Jimena Kirk collapsed against a wall, evidently in some kind of pain.
He crouched beside her, a hand reaching out to touch her shoulder to get her attention.]
Are you quite alright, Captain? There's no-one here, but you.

Go away. Both of you. Just leave me alone.
Why should I? It's so nice to finally see you down on the ground, helpless. It's been too long since I've seen that.
[ Jimena makes a slightly surprised, slightly helpless noise in the back of her throat. Her hands and shoulders are just barely starting to tremble and she can't break. Not now. Not with the Royal Asswipe of the Cardassian Empire by her. ]

Both of us?
Captain, you are experiencing delusions. It is only I here. And while perhaps I can understand a certain animosity, I think this is going far beyond the pale.
Who else do you think are you seeing?
[Despite his default sarcastic drawl, there is a definite glimmer of actual concern to see the normally brash and defiant human acting so...broken.]

His name's Frank. He's my step-father. Now leave me alone!
So I've lost my title? I'm not Frank the Bastard anymore? Aw, but it matched Mena the Car Wrecking Bitch!
That wasn't your car, you dick! It was either drive it off that cliff or you'd get your grimy hands all over it.
