[ winona, a member of the school of thought that put stock in the thought that if you ignored pain long enough it would just go away, was getting her beliefs challenged tonight and trying to cope with a quiet walk through the habitat ring. which was what she'd been getting until she rounded a corner to find a man talking to himself. and sounding rather alarmed.

she scanned the rest of the corridor, but there was no one there that she could see. a bit warily, she approached him. having spent some time familiarising herself with the starfleet uniforms and insignias from other timelines, she recognised him as a captain. ]

Are you talking to someone?

[ the captain whirled around again as a different, new voice touched his ears. the woman was not someone he recognized and just as he opened his mouth to tell her to leave, that it wasn't safe here, the borg queen slinked in behind her; that alien head with it's augmentation and tubes and discoloration hovering above the left shoulder of the woman. ]

We could assimilate her so easily, Locutus. Start a new Collective.

[ she stepped away from the blonde and moved to circle jean-luc who took the opportunity to tell the woman-- ]

[ he was facing her, but not focusing on her. she looked over her shoulder, where his gaze was directed, but still there was no one there. winona looked back at the captain, concerned and unnerved. ]

There's no one here. Are you feeling all right? I think you might be hallucinating.

[ jean-luc's brow furrows in confusion. he was a logical man and knew that hallucinations were plausible and did indeed happen, but this... this was too real. he could feel the heat of the borg systems, hear the hum of the alcoves and winced at the bright glow of that green light that seemed to reflect off anything and everything. he'd hallucinated about the borg before, but this didn't feel anything quite like it -- in fact, it felt like he were back on board his ship, stuck in the 21st century... ]

There are Borg drones everywhere and their queen is present with us.

[ he held back from shouting his decline. there was no need to indulge her. ]

[Well, his head hurt like nothing else, and he had woken up that morning with a nosebleed, but that was hardly anything to skip duty over. If he skipped everytime he had a nosebleed, he would never have passed in school. It was just a little hard to see- the light was both blinding and painful all at once, but closing his eyes wasn't, obviously, an option, or risk walking into a wall and making it worse.

It seemed that the captain had it a little worse off than he did, though, standing there in the hall, talking to himself, staring at nothing. He wasn't exactly a medical student and had no idea what was happening, but it was just a little too...strange, what was going on.

He approached his captain from behind, hesitantly laying a concerned hand on his shoulder.]

Captain...? Are you quite alright, sir?

[ he probably would have told anyone else to get out of there, but when he sees that it's one of the two members of his crew present on the station, he immediately shifts from shaken mode to command mode. ]

Lieutenant, I need you to locate Commander Worf and start working on a way to combat the Borg present on this station; have Holly run a scan to pinpoint which areas of the station they have overrun.

[He blinked a few times in confusion, glancing around the hallway looking for anything that might have set this off.]

Sir? There's nothing here except the station.

[ the queen is smirking, standing near lanford, to his left. ]

Your pets are lacking in intelligence.

[ jean-luc casts her a dark look, then returns his attention to lanford. ]

Look around you. There are Borg everywhere!

[ She had been rushing when she had caught the sudden flare of disturbance. Fear, uncertainty, shock. Instantly she took form to find Captain Picard. The man that was kind enough whens he appeared on what they called the holodeck. ]

[ he recognizes the girl and knowing from having met her prior to this most unfortunate encounter, knows that despite her inability to articulate vocal communication, she can understand it. ]

[ Borg. She had heard the word many times from Vulcans that came to her planet. With a quick glance around she saw that there was no one there. Just as with the doctor. Seeing things that were not there. Amaryllis grabbed onto his arm and shook her head. ]

[ he pauses, if only because she spoke. it does well to catch him off-guard and although his gaze is gentle, as he is mindful of her state, recalling how curious she had seemed, his words are firm. ]

The Borg are very dangerous, my dear. I am not sure I will be able to protect you, so you must leave this area.
