[ Kirk had retreated to the upper level of the bar area. The Promenade did have two levels, luckily no one bothered to notice the second level to the bar. In front of him was his PADD and the touch pen as he scrolled through more information. A glass of Budweiser Classic beside him, but it was hardly touched. Instead his focused seemed to be on the ( Read more... )

[ ezri stood back some for a bit, watching the captain and debating whether or not she really wanted to have this talk when she really should be keeping such information to herself--but at the same time, she didn't want to risk it. she didn't know when dukat was from and didn't care to know. she was just filled with this overwhelming urge to protect her previous host without letting her know the details.

this whole thing with the station and her other hosts and dukat was like a zhian'tara gone horribly, horribly wrong.

caving, ezri approached. ]

Captain. May I sit?

[ Kirk looked up at the sound of her voice. Ezri Dax. Besides the fact that there were only three Trills on board, Kirk could spot her out of anyone. She was small and short hair. He sat up straighter, folding his arms in front of his chest. Ezri did say she wanted to talk to him... and it wasn't another feeling session.

He nodded to the chair beside him. ]

You know, Ezri. It's hardly fair I can call you by your name. You can call me Jim.

Jim.

[ ...wow, that sounded weird. it was like calling captain picard jean-luc and that was something even a dax didn't do. few did. but, if he insisted ]

Consider me changing my form of addressing.

[ she sat, folding her arms together on the table ]

Remember how I said we needed to talk about something? Well...we do and you're...not going to like what I have to say--but you have to promise me you'll keep it yourself, because I shouldn't even be telling you in the first place, but if I don't I'll just drive myself crazy with paranoia and if I tell you, I'll sleep better.

[ His expression fell a bit as she rambled. There were a lot of things he shouldn't know but did because of this place. He closed the article on the PADD and slid it forward on the table. Folding his hands in front of him now, he leaned against the table. Though he was amused that the counselor was talking to him to sleep better. ]

I told Jadzia we talked, and given her reaction... you're a host after her. So if you were going to tell me that, you don't need to worry so much about it.

[Jadzia'd napped for a couple of hours and then had a much needed shower. She was definitely coming down from that drunken high, and beginning to dip into the hangover part of the night. Or morning....Uggh she really needed a raktajiino. And to be honest, a part of her hadn't really liked waking up without James next to her. She was just grabbing a cup of the klingon coffee from the bar replicator when she glanced up and saw him. She waved, and headed up the stairs to his table.]

Did you get any sleep at all?

As seeing how it's 0500? Nope.

[ He didn't see her wave but knew her voice. He glanced up at her before looking back down at the PADD. Kirk had changed into baggy pants and a t-shirt before coming to the bar. Hell, he was working when he wasn't on-duty. ]

How's the hangover?

[She gave him a rueful smile.]

Only in the beginning stages. I'm hoping to stave off the worst of it with copious amounts of caffeine.

[She slid into a chair opposite him. And tilted her head a little.]

What are you reading?

Trying to find out anything I can about the time when Holly's creators were here. Either she's locked the information or it just... doesn't exist anymore.

[ He sighed slightly and shook his head. Running his hands down his face he turned his attention to her from the PADD. ]

Sounds like you and Bones had a good bonding session.

[She was tired but restless, not entirely eager to try for sleep yet. There had to be something more entertaining or useful to do ( ... )

[ He paused and closed his eyes. God damnit. Kirk had been trying to avoid both Gailas. He had nothing against them... it was just too awkward for him. He had mourned for her and moved on, but they were both there alive. And he was ... God sakes, Jim. You're with another woman. How awkward was it to even say it to himself? God, he needed help.

Kirk eventually looked up at her and managed a smile. ]

Been up all night. Doesn't really count as early or late I think.

[Gaila wasn't expecting anything out of him - either of them. She knew what would happen when she went back to her timeline (if any of them ever did). She remembered what he'd said when she told him how she felt. She knew - whatever they'd had was temporary. And over.

She held the smile for a moment before nodding toward the PADD.]

Must be something interesting. Or at the very least, useful.

[Deven had had some trouble sleeping last night. So, after he had woken up for the third time or so an hour ago and found himself unable to get back to sleep, he decided to take a walk around the station and maybe sleep would get the better of him and he'd find a place to lie down. Or maybe it wouldn't and he'd just have an early start on his day.

Before he knew it, however, his feet had carried him to the promenade and up a staircase that he hadn't known was there (and indeed would probably never find again), only realizing that there was another person there after a few moments of confused blinking.]

Oh. Sorry about that. Just a bit spacey, I guess.

[ Kirk was just about ready to give up on trying to focus around 0500 hours. He sighed, his chin going into his hand as he eyed hi. He had the same type of uniform Picard did. Lieutenant, it looked like. Kirk had spent some time reviewing how ranks changed in Starfleet. Despite what Sam said, he was responsible. ]

Is there a reason you're up at 0500 hours, Lieutenant?

Been up all night trying to find out about Holly's creators. You've met her? I think pretty much everyone has. She likes to know who is living inside her.

[ He paused. ]

Pretend that didn't sound as weird as it did.

[McCoy feels like an arse after the Tribble naming containment field fiasco and is looking for his captain. His stomach churns at the Promenade, but his gamble plays off and he finds him.]
