I haven't updated since the move, although I know lotus_seed and quakey have been brought up to speed on what's going on with me and my life. Here's the recap for all those who haven't yet heard
( Read more... )
Oh, honey... *HUGS* Glad that at the very least you've been able to get some assistance on the parentals and meds end of things. Damn, what's the population where you're living? D:
So jealous you got to see Lotus and Quakey AND in Portland of all places! Never been there, but it sounds like such a great place.
Y'know, being stuck here this fall with no cons is really making me get serious about making a road trip to the eastern US sometime this winter. Will definitely keep you posted on that. <3<3<3
Wiki says the population of Highland Falls, NY is just under 3700. Most people do their serious shopping at the decent grocery stores 10 miles away. Which is out the question for me right now, so....I have a soda bottle of soy sauce in my pantry, a gift from the 'rents.
Almost all of the West Point kids I was even close to friends with in high school have moved away. I wasn't friends with many of the townie kids and the ones that haven't left the area yet are.....well, I have an excuse for why I'm temporarily back in town. Do they have a reason to give for why they never left?
Please, please come this way. I have an extra sofa that's comfy enough for sleeping on and am more than willing to put you up for a night or several.
The town I'm in currently claims 3300, but shit, even they have the sense to have soy sauce. It may be La Choy brand, but it's better than nothing. :(
I've never really seen the eastern US north of Georgia (JFK airport doesn't count). If my idea works out, you'll absolutely be the first to know! And if I can kidnap you for a few days (and even better, if you've already found a better gig), we could go down to DC, or even as far as Duke Univ. and see the Lemur Center. :D At the very least, Philly! Iron Chef Morimoto had a restaurant there, last I heard. <3
Holy moley, that sounds super stressful, hon. I'm sorry your job turned out so awful, but I'm glad your parents are at your back. Still, I'm sure that feels like a step in the wrong direction. I hope your feet find their way under the desk soon, or that the situation improves. Definitely keep us posted. *huggles in sympathy*
Thanks for the sympathy <3 Yeah, as I was telling my shrink, as much as I appreciate my parents' assistance...that's exactly what I never wanted to be relying on again.
YIKES. D: That's nuts - why would anyone be a jerk to their boss (even if she's not staying) these days? Talk about oh hey Mr. Foot I would like to introduce you to this thing that goes bang and makes holes in stuff as an ineffective strategy. (There's no archiving they could be doing in a basement with lots of spiders, is there?)
I like this MPA plan especially because then you could move to Madison where the streets run with fish sauce to the EPA's dismay and be in driving distance!
They're unionized federal employees--firing them is a very long and difficult process. Apparently they've been allowed to run amok by previous supervisors and are throwing tantrums because I do not allow them to do so.
The MPA would be nice, but I need to consider how long I expect to be here in my plans for that as well...

You already know we're wishing you the best. Sorry today was yet more ass, but that benefit party/book reading sounds like a fun time!
As for soy sauce, even Williams (the home town of dooooom) has soy sauce. Hence the O____o expression.

I really hope the party will go well, something needs to...
Yeah, soy sauce is really not an "exotic food" anymore, yanno?
