Songs Your Mother Never Sang You, Ten/Rose, Pg-13
But the truth of it is: you will never hear your heels click- only the ticking of a clock.
Sometimes you dream in black and white. You never used to, before, but now soft grays color your mother's face, and sometimes she will sing songs that you have never heard before, but you will feel like you ( Read more... )

Ah god, this is gorgeous! I love that the Wizard of Oz imagery is so subtle, I didn't even pick up on it until the Doctor mentioned the emerald city.

Thank you! I didn't want to make it too overbearing, just a few veiled hints here and there. :)

Oh, my. This is so light and subtly done and so beautiful, and so sad. Love the imagery of Rose discovering the slippers, the poppies, and how long are you going to stay with me, oh God, my heart is never ready to hear that.

Gorgeous.

Oh goodness, thank you so much! I debated on whether I should make the slippers ruby or not, but eventually decided against it. I felt like if I made them red it would also tie bizarrely into the old Red Shoes folktale which would just be too much sad to fit into words, really. But yes, thank you very very much, I truly appreciate the feedback! And I doubt the Doctor is ever ready to hear the answer to his own question.

OH. MY. LORD. This is so hauntingly, achingly beautiful. How perfect, the Oz imagery... Life for Rose before the Doctor (and after, surely) must have felt black and white after the luminous colours of their life together.

And this:

And then he says nothing. And then he is nothing.

You have broken me into a million pieces with only 972 words. Good job, bebe.

Aw, thank you!! What gave me the idea in the first place was the thought of all the lush, beautiful things she must have seen, and how dull and monochromatic everything must have seemed in comparison.

But, thank you so much! ♥ I'm so glad that you liked it. :)

Man, this is amazing. The way you weave in the last few days together with the reality she's living in now is chillingly beautiful.

Thank you for sharing this! ♥
