Challenge 16

Photos&Poems

We'll be switching back and forth between one and the other and both from now on, because frankly, we like to fly limitless with prompts here, and anyway, it's a well known whatsit that Rose and the Doctor prefer to inspire people through the mediums of poetry and photography, when they can't be around to do it themselves.
This one is going to be a competitive challenge, darlings, but we'll be switching back and forth with that and non-competitive too. We like to keep you on your toes.

Now, under here you'll find a mix of photos and lines of poetry. You don't have to stake claim on any to use them for your fics, and they can be used however you want, incorporation-wise; as an actual line in the fic itself, as the abstract theme of the piece, whatever you like. And like last time, if you want to use two pictures, go ahead. Just remember to link to the prompt(s) you've chosen and you're good to go.

001.

Some days I can go nearly an hour
without thinking of the taste
of your mouth.

002.

003.

I remember holding you against the sink,
with the sun soaking the window, the soft call
of your hips, and the intricate flickers
of thought chiming your eyes. Your mouth,
like a Saturday. I remember your
long thighs, how they
opened on the sofa, and the pulse
of your cry when you came, and
sometimes I miss you
the way someone drowning
remembers the air.

004.

005.

you were the boy in Ravel's garden
who always longed to be good,
as the forest creatures knew, and so do I

006.

007.

Time is always ahead of us, running down the beach, urging
us on faster, faster, but sometimes we take off our watches,
sometimes we lie in the hammock, caught between the mesh
of rope and the net of stars, suspended, tangled up
in love, running out of time.

008.

009.

So I better tell you about her legs.
When she crosses them on the sofa
It's like the jailer unwrapping a parcel
And in that parcel is a Christmas cake
And in that cake a sweet little file
That gasps her name as it files my chains.

010.

011.

(i do not know what it is about you that closes

and opens;only something in me understands

the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)

nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands

012.

013.

listen:
we can make a pilgrimage
to tenderness

014.

015.

I get
up, and you get me down, get lost, you lead
me home, or I take you, and we both arrive.

016.

017.

You were inside me like my pulse.

018.

019.

the spaces between stars are nothing
to worry about,
it's when those secrets burst
in that emptiness between our hearts
and the lumps in our throats.
And the words we find
are always insufficient, like love,
though they are often lovely
and all we have

020.

021.

I was thinking this is intelligence,
this is the wisest tongue
since the Oracle got into a Greek's ear,
speaking sense. It's the Good,

defining itself. I was out of my mind.
She was in.

022.

023.

I have longed for people before, I have loved people before.
Not like this.
It was not this.

024.

025.

But he knew there must have been
some things she had not liked.
So he went to her closest friend
and asked what she complained of.
"It's all right," he had to keep
saying, "I really won't mind."
Until the friend finally gave in.
"She said sometimes you made a noise
drinking your tea if it was very hot."

026.

027.

If she writes in a letter,
Sometimes our bodies are too much for us,
quote her. How she turns you on
turns her on. You can
quote me on that.

028.

029.

I would like to be the air
that inhabits you for a moment
only. I would like to be that unnoticed
& that necessary.

030.

031.

the gold of the universe
wells
to your touch

032.

033.

there are things about you i collect and sell to no one.

034.

035.

You said Tell me about your books, your visions made
of flesh and light and I said This is the Moon. This is
the Sun. Let me name the stars for you. Let me take you
there.

036.

037.

I made
this place for you. A place for you to love me.
If this isn't the kingdom then I don't know what is.

038.
