great idea for an AU! I like how they're in California and all the little details that change ever so slightly. :)

“Come along, you two.” Howard calls brightly, already waiting by the taxi he’s procured. Rose has to admit, of all the fellows that her mother has stepped out with, Howard is certainly the nicest.

First off, AW! Even though all we know of Howard-the-Grocer is his odd, but efficient means of keeping snacks in his dressing gown, I love how people expand on his character and so love how they make him this nice guy. I'm sure if RTD hadn't planned to bring alt!Pete and Jackie together, she'd have stayed with Howard. :)

“Not looking like that you’re not,” Jackie snaps, “I can see more skin on you then when you were born. Where’d you get that anyway?”

LOL! Oh Jackie!

“Oh, my God,” she gasps, pushing her sunglasses off her face as she hurries to kneel over him. “Are you all right?”
