The Unsinkable Ship, Nine(/Rose), G
He could stop them from getting on the ship-who’s to say he can’t? They’re gone. All of them. He’s the only one left., 350

A/N: Yes, I am, in fact, entirely aware that this is so cheesy it may as well have come from a dairy. That photo of Nine about to see the Titanic off always gets me thinking...

Hee, I'm glad, because that was the first image that hit me as I contemplated writing this! I always giggle like mad at the Doctor hating wine (Nine in "World War Three" and Eleven in "The Lodger" and "The Impossible Astronaut") because I hate it as well. Granted, I wouldn't be quite so glad to spill it on Kate Winslet, because she is my queen. ;) Thank you!

Perfect! Nice connecting of the dots. Spilling wine on KW, priceless!

Loved this:
Perhaps she wasn’t being funny, he thinks, as he looks down at his old girl’s console and strokes it absently. Perhaps she was trying to give him hope.

He can feel the TARDIS inside his head-smug.

The TARDIS knows best Doctor, you should listen to her more.

Thank you! :) I always wonder about the TARDIS, I have to admit. We know she's sentient and we know she's telepathic; might she also have a little bit of the Doctor's ability to see timelines? I like to think she knew it would get better for him. The TARDIS knows best, indeed!

(although, he finds himself thinking entirely too much, this Jack will not be this Rose’s lover if he can help it).

Ha!

You know he had those thoughts every once in a while. Maybe more. ;) Thanks for reading!

The title got me snickering a bit 'cause I was all, "Titanic? You're not the unsinkable ship, the Doctor and Rose are!" XD

The summary broke my heart.

EEK! You know, I always did find it funny how Rose and Jack had the same names as the protagonists in Titanic (of course the Doctor would make sure nothing would happen between THIS Jack and Rose), but I never made THAT connection: Perhaps she wasn’t being funny, he thinks, as he looks down at his old girl’s console and strokes it absently. Perhaps she was trying to give him hope.

Yes dear, sexy TARDIS, be smug.

Loved it!

YES! Someone caught the pun! :D I was being a metatextual dork and playing on the dual meaning of ship because I could, LOL.

It always entertains me, that the writers picked those two names. On Tumblr, I have to specify which Jack and Rose I'm talking about in my tags; I think that was how I first noticed the coincidence! Like I said above, when the idea for this came into my head, my first thought was that maybe the TARDIS has a little bit of the Doctor's ability to see timelines--that maybe she knew Rose and Jack would come along. I like to think she had an idea, and that she'd be smug about it. ;) Thank you!

Haha, great minds think alike. ;D

The TARDIS would so be smug about it, as should you for writing this up!

I've always wanted to write a fic where Rose drags Nine and Jack to see Titanic - just for the lulz, and because you know she'd totally be trolling them both the whole time. This is even better though, that the TARDIS is sneakily guiding him along and using obscure Earth references - in a word, fantastic. Such a lovely, condensed piece. Just perfect.

LMAO, Rose would. I can totally see Jack going along with it and Nine putting on his unamused face. Thank you! <33
