Looking After, AU Doctor/Rose, All Ages
Jackie Tyler had been shouting herself hoarse over that child every single day for what felt like ages. Even in her exasperation, she knew for sure it had only been a week, but honestly, time seemed to stretch on and on when there was nothing to do but look after a wild and clever little girl.

I've not read the 'verse this is part of (I'll have to add it to my list!) but I loved this all the same. Verity is exactly like I'd imagine a child of theirs to be, and the thought of Jackie looking after her and growing up in the process is lovely.
There were just so many little things I loved--Jackie fearing for Verity in the face of those never-ending pockets, the way she and Verity are amused by the same things, Verity doing the same we all do in the face of her parents snogging--and so heartwarming that the Doctor asked Jackie along, despite their differences.
And this really made me laugh: "Sorry, Mum," he apologized. "I've been holed up with the stuffiest people in the history of stuffiness for a month."
Rose nodded adamantly. "You get the urge to break something, just to see something happen," she agreed. Sounds like living with Time Lords to me ( ... )

I found this extremely amusing:
"I'll help, Daddy," Verity exclaimed, and stuffed her hand in the opposite pocket. Jackie yelped in protest and dragged Verity back. She maintained that she absolutely could not help being afraid that the little girl would fall into those pockets and be lost forever one day.
Come on Jackie I am sure Borusa would love to have you stay on Gallifrey for awhile!

The only downside is that this has me craving more of this 'verse. I love Verity both in this and in Day in the Park and I'd love to read more of the Doctor/Rose/Verity as a happy family or more Verity in general, even in the world where she thinks Borusa is her father.
