Apparently in my skimming over ripple material, I missed Ripplepay.comWhereas it's uncertain whether eGold will survive as an entity since the US government is attempting to steal their gold reserves under false pretenses. This seems to be an example of p2p systems shifting from weak authentication (anonymity) to strong authentication (reputation). I started suspecting that this was the way to go a year or two ago, since cowboy libertarian cypherpunk types started really exploring and discovering the limitations of anonymized networks.
