So I got my sparkly new D&D 4th Player's Handbook on Friday. It's more or less what I expected. Had I not been expecting this, I'd have been highly disapointed

I don't like it. However, I understand what they're doing. They're trying to get folks to make the jump from WoW to table-top.
No, they're getting rid of all the fucking bullshit that made D&D a pain in the ass to play while holding on to the good stuff.
Did we really need like three different skills for Perception checks? Or random HP? Or high-level encounters that were done in two rounds, because of the stupid-brokenness of Save or Die spells? Should I really have to fuck with whether or not something is a supernatural ability or a spell or a mind-affecting spell-like ability? In what grim bureaucratic hell is that fun?

They may have gotten rid of a bunch of confusing rules, which is fine, but they also made the game so ridiculously simplistic as to be retarded. I'm sorry, but the idea that people are simply "trained" or "not trained" is stupid. The idea that if I'm a good pick pocket, I'm also a good lock picker, is very stupid. The idea that all magi in the universe carry either a wand, or an orb, or a staff is very, very stupid. The idea that all characters, in the entire universe, who are level 10 have exactly the same number of encounter powers (or daily powers, utility powers, etc), is very, very, very stupid
( ... )
Basically. I'm not "upset", I just don't like it. I can put all the D&D books I own into a single backpack, so I'm not terribly invested in it. It's a "hot topic" so to speak in the gaming world, so I thought I'd toss my two cents in.
