I'm thick

Okay, so maybe I'm a bit slow but I just noticed something -- something half of DW fandom has probably already noticed, but, well, I just felt obliged to post, to get it out of my head. (also, I was sort of proud of myself for actually noticing something ( Read more... )

but that line from FoD was, to me, such a direct call back to "The Parting of the Ways" and what caused the bad wolf, that I turned round in my chair all excited, said "dude!", and made the roommate listen to me ramble on about bad wolf and paradoxes for a few minutes.

she did, it's true. *nods* said "dude!" and everything.

this? is why she is a genius. *nods again*

Now, tell me to get back to work.

work, schmerk. we should order lunch. :D

I am so excited about the return of Rose/Bad Wolf! That line about everything dying made me think of POTW, too, when Rose and Tardis have merged, and the Doctor is trying to talk her down. I loved that episode, but especially that scene so much. I think I must go home and upload my Rose/Bad Wolf icon.

I'm completely thrilled. When that dinged in my head, it really was just a joy to see it come together after almost three full series. Awesome.

btw, did we ever find out how the Master knew that?

I always assumed the Yana/Master was half listening to the talk Jack and Ten had in the radiation room when he was trying to regain his memories back.

But, oh, yes everything you said about the Bad Wolf, like you I was disappointed we never had a resolution to it, especially with the tantalizing bit they threw in Tooth and Claw and then mentioning Bad Wolf virus again in Love and Monsters when the virus stopped Elton and his crew from searching out anything about Rose and then popping up again in Bad Wolf Bay.

I thought, c'mon, it can't be the end there and how the heck did the Bad Wolf reach the other universe? I was put off when I thought Rusty just ended it without mentioning it -- that how could Rose, a human stand to absorb the Time Vortex and not turn into dust seconds later. There must be something there.

OH! Yes, that's probably right. It's been nearly a year since I've watched those episodes.

And, I forgot Bad Wolf Bay, but since I've purposely blocked "Love and Monsters" from my mind, that one doesn't count ;)

Of Bad Wolf Bay, I always figured that that's where she and the Doctor would last see each other, and as the bad wolf, who could see the whole of time and space, she'd give that some significance. And mostly that was because, yeah, the whole bad wolf thing just seemed dropped, so I didn't think much past that point. I'm glad to be wrong.

So am i, so very glad because I've always loved the Bad Wolf mythology and thought it had a lot of potential re: Rose, about what she could do and what she'll become and just... I love the Rose that we've seen because that's teh Rose I've been imagining for a while now.

and, btw, did we ever find out how the Master knew that? wait, I didn't hallucinate that, did I? Oh, nope, just found it, "In days of old, Doctor, you had companions who could absorb the time vortex."

He overhears it in Utopia, when the Master is still Professor Yana, and Jack and the Doctor are chatting away in the basement or whatnot. The Doctor tells Jack that Rose absorbed the Time Vortex. Martha, Chantho, and the Professor can hear the conversation. I guess you're just supposed to believe he absorbed it all and remembered it later, while he was having his Time-Lordie epiphany.

How likely should that have been? I mean, plot devices aside, if you're going to do something like that, do try to follow through.Magical handwave? I've seen some meta on this somewhere, that he knew it would kill him sooner or later and so he regenerated to prevent it. Or something. Or maybe it's because he's a Time Lord? Or maybe the Tardis had a hand in it and protected Rose for as long as possible? Because why didn't it turn Rose into an egg ( ( ... )

Or maybe the Tardis had a hand in it and protected Rose for as long as possible? Because why didn't it turn Rose into an egg (or whatnot) like it did to Margaret in Boom Town? It's a little weird.

and i always thought that the Tardis granted Margaret's wish, looked into her heart and saw she genuinely wanted to change....to be able to start over....and since they're egg-laying creatures, she's goes back to egg.

so by following that, admittedly mine, logic, then it would make sense - to me anyway - that the Tardis looked into Rose's heart as well, into her very soul; that it knew what she would do with the power, and why...and gave it to her.

My current giant wild spec is that Donna is the most recent regeneration of everyone's favorite female Time Lord, Romana.

I've seen some people guessing that. Or I've also heard spec she's the Rani.

Rose's comment that she's got some funky reality-bends-around-her-itis, and has had since she was born, is pretty interesting.

Romana really *was* the one Companion to have the Doctor's number all along...

God, she so was. In the first story she's in, when she nails him for lying about his age and his scores in school, and then goes on about their "negative empathy" ... half the time he looks like he wants to throw himself from a cliff or something. Ha!
