Good lord. One of the neighbor cats just wandered into the house and it looks like somebody went after her with a pair of dull scissors. She's not physically damaged, and believe me, I did look, but her hair's been mostly chopped off, except it was done unevenly, mostly just off her back and sides, at some points it's almost cut down to the skin ( Read more... )

She looks horrific. She had some knots in her fur on her back, but otherwise her fur was clean and not matted. She just needed a good brushing. I'm kind of ticked.

I'll hope maybe it was a case of Shadow escaping before the trim was completed, because otherwise -- wtf?

Pretender was always that show I watched because it was on before Profiler. I liked it but couldn't keep up with what NBC did with it.

Poor kitty! Sometimes it's less painful to the cat to just cut off the mats than attempt to untangle them with a brush, but obviously the trick is not letting it get that bad before acting. Of course, I say this as the owner of groom-free shorthairs whose coat care on my part consists of petting them with damp hands every now and then.

Oh, I agree. I had a white siamese who'd hang out under cars and the spot between her shoulder blades was constantly matted with oil and dirt, and the best way to deal with that was to trim every now and again.

However, this cat ... well, unless she tangled with something this morning, when I saw her last night, most of her fur was in good condition, but for a couple of matted bits on her back. Now, her sides, back, neck, belly, tail, are all unevenly trimmed -- down to the skin here and there, and leftover big, uneven tufts of fur. I'm actually going to hope that what happened was that she escaped before the trim could be completed, because onside is slightly more trimmed than the other side. Though, the trimmed down to the skin bits made me raise my eyebrow.

I'm also glad she's not aware of how dreadful she looked. heh.
