I thought the film was about as white and diverse as the standard Hollywood film. It doesn't buck the trend, it doesn't get any rewards for ZOMG DIVERSITY! which is its own kind of disappointment. Rue was (as she was in the books) the textbook example of "dead [sis] walking," Thresh came off as a thug and a black lady named Lucia(?)... well, she existed in the control room. Cinna was the only black person (because again, diversity = black people, in Hollywood lingo) who didn't feel like a stereotype and one black man cannot save this film from the mediocre diversity. Yeah, there were Asian tributes, but all the attention was on the Careers and Foxface (all white)-- the most you got were snapshots as they were declared dead. Considering the showy way they were introduced to us, I wanted more of the tributes than what we got so that was disappointing

I'm just going to take a moment to hug this comment right now *smishes*
As a friend correctly said: "I can convince myself to explain away the whiteness of District 12 (Appalachia is currently mostly white people, so in this not too distant future it might still be that way especially with government regulated segregation between Districts) and I can explain the relative whiteness of the Capitol (racism runs VERY deep in his country and probably still will by the time this is taking place), but that doesn't really explain the whiteness of the tributes."
But I agree more with what you said. This was an amazing opportunity for poc's and it was squandered to make it so that WHITE HEROES SOLVE EVERYTHING. By golly, gee thanks, fellow white citizen! /sarcasm.
Also Community <3333 You seem to have really awesome fandoms and I think I'd like to befriend you if that's okay? You're the only one who hasn't said anything along the lines of "it's not a big deal that they casted so many white people" and it's very refreshing.
Yeah, seriously. I wanted Malese Jow to get it so bad. She would have been so great, especially because she played a role similar to Katniss before AND she's biracial.
YES <333 Have you watched the first 2 episodes yet? It officially released at Korra Nation <333
