Max closed the windows closed tightly, even though it was growing increasingly warm in the room. He jumped into his bed, and snuggled next to the garlic necklace he was wearing. He had been wearing it ever since they had gotten back from Lucard’s castle.
Chris had somehow fallen asleep, minutes after they had come into the bedroom. He was now emitting low, lumbered snores, and had a weird grin on his face. He was probably dreaming of Sophie, Max thought to himself.
Max felt like both jumping on the bed, and cowering underneath it. He couldn’t believe that he had met a real vampire tonight, the real live Dracula. It was so exciting, yet he also knew he couldn’t be too excited. Dracula had been so close to killing them all, or turning them all into vampires if Uncle Gustav hadn’t stepped in and rescued them.
Max wondered if it hurt to become a vampire. Maybe the pain would be worth it. Max scolded himself, vampires were evil, he couldn’t start wondering what would happen if he was one. Maybe there was a thing as a good vampire, who didn’t feast on blood. He was sure if he asked Uncle Gustav he would probably get mad.
If you were a vampire, did you consider yourself an evil creature? What could you do though if you were unwilling turned into one? Would you just stop functioning and let yourself die a second time? Or maybe you could survive on blood of animal, and people who committed heinous crimes?
Was blood actually as good as they made it out to be, or did they just have to drink it because it was what kept them alive?
Max wondered if he could actually be a vampire. Would it be as exciting as being a vampire hunter like Uncle Gustav? He could see how both had advantages and disadvantages, like if you were a vampire you didn’t have to live by rules like bedtimes. If you were a vampire hunter you wouldn’t have to worry about someone coming in, and staking you while you slept. Being a vampire you could turn into a bat, but you wouldn’t be able to eat garlic pizza.
Max wondered though if it was worth it to be considered evil. Maybe it was better to not think about being a vampire, and stay on the good. Before he could debate whether a vampire or vampire hunter was better anymore, he fell asleep.
