Most of the tea they served in the outer circle of Ba Sing Se was loose leaf in a pot then served by the glass. It was about as interesting as dishwater to Zuko.
When Uncle opened his own tea shop, The Jasmine Dragon, in the more properous section of town he made sure to include flowering teas on his menu.
Special glass teapots were ordered and Zuko was schooled in the proper way to prepare flowering tea. It was unglamorous as all you did was drop a tight ball of dried tea into the glass pot. He had been unimpressed with the technique.
But when he watched the tea ball unfold into an underwater arrangement of delicate flowers and leaves he felt his chest tighten from the gentle beauty of the display.
Of course it still tasted like tea and afterwards the tea was just a sodden mess but for a brief moment it was glorious.
Maybe he would have his moment of glory too.
