I have come to believe something that might come up in later episodes as to the whole search for God thing the brothers and Cas, and the angels are on. ( God == John || John != God )
Hmmm. Yes, I think there are a crazy amount of parallels with the Winchesters and the heavenly characters, but I'm not sure I would go so far as to go John = God, just because of the deal he made with the crossroads demon. Lame distinction, I know, but I don't quite think that's something that God would do.
I'm not sure how I feel about God taking on John's form... I wouldn't be opposed to it, necessarily. I don't know. I expect I'd have to see how they write it before I can make any firm decisions on that one. Though, considering the resistance he put up during his time in Hell, I could see it happening, you know? Of all people to be The Vessel for God, John probably has a strong case on that one.
Though, I think it'd be hilarious to hear Cas go "I found Father!" and then Dean/Sam to go "Uh, Cas, that's our Dad." Confusion - oh, the awkward confusion.
TBH, I still don't get the importance of the amulet. I mean, I understand what it means to Dean, but in the overall plot? Just weird, I think.
Ah yes the amulet, I'm just going to ride that one out - I have no clue.
And John's Deal; I had completely forgotten about it *FalcePalm*. But I have another theory that was momentarily lost in my brain: God decided to take a break and be reborn as a human with no memories of being God just for the experience. Which is why he made the deal; he was a human, not God at the time. It explains why he lasted so long in Hell and where he's been all this time. But not the amulet, Dean would have noticed if it had done anything weird in all the time he spent around his Dad.
Ahh the confusion on who is whose daddy, now that would be amusing :D
