It's Not Moving
“Alice, how many hours in a year?” Alice glanced over to the Mad Hatter who was sitting at the end of the long table. He was gazing down at a clock in his hand as though waiting for something to happen.
“What are you talking about Mr. Hatter?” Alice sighed as she walked over to see what he was looking at.
“I want to know what time it is.” The Mad Hatter replied as he glanced over at Alice. “Look at it and then tell be how many hours are in a year.”
Curious Alice looked over at the clock in his hands. “I don't what you--” She trailed off as she saw the clock in the Hatters hands. For some reason instead of the numbers 1, 2, 3, and so on, representing time. The clock held dates...or years as it were.
“Where did you get the clock?”
“Oh, I made it.” The Hatter said carelessly as though this were the obvious answer.
Alice chuckled as she passed him back the clock. “Sorry Mr. Hatter I don't have a clue how many hours are in a year.”
“That's a shame.” The Hatter sighed as he put the clock on t he table.
“I don't think that many people want to know what year it is.” Alice said as she looked at the clock. “Most people use calender for that.”
The Hatter scoffed. “That's even worse. It only has one year.”
“Yes.” Alice shook her head. “But that has months and days. You can see the change in that, no one will want to stare at a clock that hardly moves.
“That's true.” The Hatter concluded and the sat gazing at the clock for a moment.
“I got it!”
He'd taken Alice by surprise and she frowned slightly confused. “What did you get?”
“I'll make a clock with the day of the week on it.” He grinned. “It'll be like a calender....in a clock.”
Alice opened her mouth to say something but before she could say anything the Hatter had jumped up and grabbed Alice's arm. “Come on Alice. I'm sure there's an old calender in the attic. We can use that to....”
Alice led herself get dragged off by the hatted man, it was going to be a very interesting afternoon
