A Group, huh? I may have to look into that. Thanks!
They are giving the option of having the pictures moved to either an Artist's Commission thread (I don't have one) or deleting the CAPG thread. This came about because I have never had a Commission thread (only the CAPG which I treated like a Portfolio) so they decided to put me in Off-Site Artisans so my pics wouldn't be lost. What I'm griping about is my 4+ years of comments that have been lost.
I can't speak for other artists, but comments are important to me. I couldn't make a living doing face ups, so comments and feedback are my "real" reward if that makes sense.
I used to also go to the artist section and see who was doing what...or just to learn who was out there doing faceups...I frankly don't understand why it is going away.
I do also have issues with having to post to all these other sites...that quite honestly do not insure that the rights to what I post are mine.
While I don't do faceups I do alot of photography...and it's hard to decide the best way to post images I want to share...Because I do want to share and like Lyn it is wonderful to hear that somebody out there actually looked and it...and hopefully likes it.
From what I understand the CAPG is being phased out because it was no longer serving it's original purpose (which I secretly suspect we all missed the point in the first place) of Artist's sharing their more special creations in a photoshoot or some such.
I've said in many replies now that it's certainly their prerogative and I don't mean to sound like I'm blaming or bashing, cause that's not my intention and never has been.
I just...can't say I like the new method of either having everything in one place with no option for commenting, or a bunch of commission threads that will quickly fall to obscurity like my regular Gallery posts. Few as they may be.
As a non-posting owner of one of your fab repaints, I'm ever so guilty of hoarding dear Enki to myself. So i can only imagine the kind of gorgeous commissions you've done over the years that have not seen the light of day. We love you, so even though I rarely comment, I do read and do ogle your repaints. ^_^
I hope they're just streamlining everything and not removing things on DoA. It's definitely a different place than the one we used to play in back in 2005.
I get that not everyone posts pics of their dolls, and I wasn't trying to wag my finger at those folks saying, "You never post pics of my work!" or anything. I was mainly observing that in a lot of cases, my pics are often the only ones "out there" of my work.
There is a thread for me in Picture Requests on DoA of owner pics of dolls I've done, but they are all pics stripped out of my CAPG thread.
Which again is part of my gripe. Everything scattered.
Is the hot-gluing not holding her anymore? How is her blushing holding up? (Inquiring minds want to know. I'm interested in the longevity. :P)
The stricter rules about chatting and what can be posted where is why my time spent on that forum has dwindled to nearly nothing over the last year, year and a half. I used to love to spend time in a specific thread (like the SID thread, or Narae thread way back when) and share pics and chat with like minded folks. Now with the rules on posting pics...it's really taken a lot of the fun out of it.
Which is almost fodder for another rant. Where has the fun gone?
(That's why I want to have someone help me wire her, so that her hooves don't knock together -- she's so gorgeous that I'm a little paranoid about messing her up when moving her around!)
But, yes -- the stricter rules about chatting and photo-posting, especially in the Discussion threads, definitely drove me away from being an active participant on DoA. (There were other factors, of course, like Life Stuff, but that actively upset and alienated me, when I was getting reprimanded and my posts were being deleted.)
Lol I actually tried looking for your commission thread a while back...now I understand why I didn't find it ~_^
I don't have anything super useful to add, other than, dang, I didn't know you had so many DOA people in your friends list, reading your journal! I only have like, 2, or maybe 3.

I honestly am frustrated by the changes from a chatty, sprawling forum to these stricter guidelines of what can be posted where :/
**hugs**
You know I adore the beautiful dolls that you've painted for me!! <3
(And I need to find someone to help me wire Anat's legs so that she'll stand safely, so that I can take more pictures of her!!)
