AHAHA. Well, to be fair, it's like the oldest trick in the romance book (ranks even higher than surpraise terminal illness). If Bella was more genre-savvy she would have totally realised! XD
To be fair, from what I've heard, that part at least is kind of a Justified Trope despite all the complaints. I'm not a fan of Twilight by any means, but if you think of it not in terms of... lol Twilight, but just: Boy is a vampire and has huge urge to bite Girl, but doesn't want to bite Girl. There are also apparently evil vampires around he is afraid will target her to get to him, since they have a huge hate-on for his family. They do in fact target her to get to him, which almost ends badly until Smeyer pulls some deus ex machina out of her ass.
Even if it's kind of a dumb decision still, it's kinda easy why most boys in Boy's position might be "... well shit it's dangerous as FUCK to be around me." In real life, and in quite a lot of stories, this is incredibly stupid, buuuut at least in the context of the 'verse it really was shown to be dangerous for her to be with him, in the form of Shit, Almost Dead

HI THERE I HAVE MISSED YOU :DthelovemafiaJune 10 2010, 16:09:54 UTC
AND YOU HAVE LEE IN THAT ICON, YOU ARE AWESOME. (I THINK I NEVER REALISED THAT REALLY.)
It is a Justified Trope, I agree. My shock was more along the lines of, "... Daddy? You are not supposed to know these things."
*grin* I wouldn't call myself a Twilight fan, but I must say I probably seem to act like one: I will watch every one of the movies and sparkle over the merchandise (I love merchandise for things I know), I find it so funny and it makes me happy.
:( I wish I could do more for your lovely extensive comment than just emit hearts and love (and sparkles) at you! ♥ But I really appreciate the thought that went into it, wow. ♥
Do you like it, though? Just curious. (My little brother made me a mix CD on my birthday and he drew a setting sun for the cover and scribbled TWILIGHT over it. And he brings me newspaper articles with Twilight in it and says, "YOU'RE PROBABLY INTERESTED IN THIS" and I go :D :D :D "I AM.")
I HAVE MISSED YOU TOO, GIRL *HUGS*poisonteaJune 10 2010, 16:28:41 UTC
HE IS THE BEST GHOST EVER or at least he was close to Nightmare Fuel when he first showed up. Aaaaaah I loved that page. /o/ ♥
PFFT I think people absorb details about Twilight FROM THE AIR ITSELF. Also it's a pretty common thing in romance. Oh True Love Dude breaks up with Girl it must have been for some ~sparkly reason~ so either there was a misunderstanding or he is trying to ~protect her~ somehow. *laughs*
I've never actually read it or seen any of the movies, though. :| I'm not a fan but I'm not an anti-fan at all? I'm just ehhhh but I don't care if people love it or laugh at it. o/ It seems like the movies could be fun, but I go "OH SMEYER" at the dumb stuff and also don't... think I'd like the books because I don't think I'd like Bella at all if I had to read through her incredibly shallow (and from what I've heard, bratty) inner monologue. The movies emit that, though, which is A
( ... )
AND THEN I HUG YOU FOREVER. *FOREVER*.thelovemafiaJune 13 2010, 15:58:02 UTC
AW, LEE. ♥ I know what you mean. I kinda wish fandom loved him more, but it's okay, I'll make up for it. ♥
PFFT I think people absorb details about Twilight FROM THE AIR ITSELF THIS IS TRUE! It is also the only way I can explain how my Dad learnt about it. ... more likely that he watched it somehow when I was not in his presence but my mind boggles at WHY he would want to. PARENTS. THEY NEVER FAIL TO SURPRISE YOU.
For what it's worth I think the movies are better than the books, not least because you don't have to put up with every word of Bella's narrative (most particularly re. Edward). I picked Twilight up in a bookstore after hearing a lot about it, and went AUUUUGHHHHHHH NOOOO after flipping through the book. But I go through the movies fine (at the New Moon screening I was at people seemed to think it was a COMEDY, from the way they were laughing).
YES, THE SPARKLING AND HEARTS ARE HILARIOUS. ♥
ALSO, THE FALLOUT FROM YOUR FINGERS IS JUST FINE. :D
My Dad: He broke up with her to save her. Me: .... What. My Dad: He did it to keep her safe. Me: .............. My Dad: It was so obvious it was not even funny.
