Hero Worship

So I met one of my life-long heroes today and it was everything I hoped it would be and more. <3

Several weeks ago, I happened upon the information that Alan Davis was going to be at Wizard World Comic Con in Ohio. Ohio. Not close to Texas even a little bit. During a weekend that multiple people at work needed off ( Read more... )

He's a comic book artist and writer who has worked on several titles, including X-Men, Captain America and my personal favorite, Excalibur. His depiction of Nightcrawler has always been my favorite and I give him all the credit for instilling a lifelong love of comics in me. This was a big deal for me because he lives in England, so he doesn't show up at American conventions very often. (Actually I don't think he goes to UK conventions much either.)

I feel like many people have a personal hero like this, so I think it's something that's easy to relate to.

I went back today for a last autograph (I got myself a copy of the comic that that two page spread appears in and got that page signed). He recognized me from last night (Well, I was the only girl in that line, haha) and thanked me for the card and told me how nice it was. I may just have used up all of my happiness for the year. XD

He is SO NICE, isn't he? I got to meet him at San Diego Comic Con one year, and I was so nervous! But he signed my New Mutants annual for me, and was so polite and friendly.

You'll have to post a picture of the sketch! :D

Those peeps that say to never meet your heroes obviously didn't have your's!

Maybe it's something with the downtowns in that area. Indianapolis is so much more pedestrian friendly than any Texas city downtown. The huge food fair in Columbus when I was there showed people liked doing things there. ::sigh:: If only Dallas was the same and we wouldn't have to drive 10 miles from A-Kon to find a Whataburger! Or anything else affordable to eat that late at night!
