Butchering of the English language is certainly part of the appeal - but it was only 8 or so years ago that participating countries could enter songs in any language. Up until then everyone had to sing in their own language - which gave the countries like UK, Ireland and Malta a bit of an unfair advantage. Although - often a song will lose its charm in the translations (and pronunciation.)
Well I'm Bulgarian and I have to say that even I find 'Let Me Cry' terribly dull and repetitive. Ugh. My vote's definitely not going towards her.. If Bulgaria for once had actually sent it something that sounded REMOTELY Bulgarian it might have at least gotten sympathy votes for originality. Personally, I find that all the songs are crap - really big crap (at the lack of using a better description) but if I HAD to pick someone, Id go for Silvía Nótt only bc of the parody aspect..
Darn - what are the odds that I'd have a Bulgarian on my friendslist ;)
In all fairness Iceland's had its share of clunkers. I was relieved I couldn't watch the competition in 2001 because of my brother's wedding. Our song was horrible. It fully deserved its last place.

For what it's worth, I enjoy your writeups. I'd no idea there was Finnish answer to AC DC.
