thelittlebang femslash mini-bang challenge round 2

May 16, 2011 14:08

It's been ages since we've done the first round of TLB. Since 2009, as a matter of fact. In the intervening two years, a whole lot of things have happened, and so we've got some changes.

First of all, thenewhope and quasiradiant have been forced to gafiate out of fandom (at least for a while, though we hope to see them back!), so we'll be running with a different mod ( Read more... )

Is AO3 the only place we're allowed to post our fics? I have an account there and I would be happy to post my fic there just for the sake of record-keeping, but LJ is the "main" place where I post fic and I would prefer that people be directed there first and foremost to read my fic. If that makes sense.

Basically I'm asking: if I were to sign up and post fic, would I only be allowed to link to where it's posted on AO3?

It does make sense! However, at first, everything will need to be posted on the AO3. That's basically to let us keep everything in one spot and make it about ten times easier for us to track who has submitted their stories on time.

We're going to ask that the creators not crosspost anywhere until after the stories have been live for a certain (and as yet unspecified, because we haven't talked about it) amount of time. After that point in time, the creators can repost anywhere. I would suggest setting up a post on LJ for feedback, if you prefer to get your feedback there, and then edit the post to add the story when crossposting opens.

TBH, posting a link to the AO3 may not be permissible by AO3 standards. I don't know, and, to be honest, am not willing to ask them. The reason we're trying to keep everything to a specific set of pre-determined guidelines is to keep our stress levels way down as mods, and so we'll spend a lot less time tracking everything down across multiple sites.

Ah, I see. :\

To be honest, I have issues with AO3 and while I'm not opposed entirely to cross-posting my stuff there (like I said, for record's sake), I don't like to use it as my primary posting site. And if AO3 is going to take issue with me posting a link to my AO3 fic on my LJ, then it just isn't worth the trouble. Oh well. :\

Thanks for answering my question, though.

Oh, wow. I just looked up the fandom you're going to be creating in, and I think I really need to see this. It doesn't seem to be available on Netflix. Do you know if there are resources available? Can you PM me if there are?

Oh, awesome! Madoka Magica is a great series, and it's also probably one of the most active yuri fandoms right now--both in Japan and all over the world. (There's so much gorgeous fanart out there for it that it kind of blows my mind.) And it's not licensed yet (though it was so popular that I'm sure it will eventually be), but I'll PM you.

It looks like such a fascinating series. I missed out on so much anime and manga over the years, I have to say.
