Other than the economy, was there some mass exodus from dressage showing last year? I swear to god these are the smallest Training Level classes I've ever seen. ie: Wo usually places in the top 3 in classes of 15+.... there are 3-4 in our classes this weekend. This either means that only the really good people are showing, or ????? *insert anything ( Read more... )

shows, wo

I don't know about dressage, but last season there were a whole lot of events that historically fill on opening day but last season didn't...and some of them didn't ultimately fill at all. Presumably for straight-up economic reason. Nice to get into everything I wanted to enter! But does make me a little nervous...we did lose a couple off the calendar.

Good luck!

I'm wondering if the majority is doing schooling shows now.... because that's what I've been doing all winter and there have been 15-20 easily in every class we've done. There are also more people in the opportunity classes, which I just don't understand why you'd go to a recognised show and not want the ride to count and/or pay the higher entry fees when the same facility offers schooling shows year round.

Not like I should be complaining at all; I'm just really surprised because if I still had Lita, there is no one showing in her 4th level classes, and there would be one other horse in PSG.

Re: T3.... I've not ridden this version of the test with the developing canter on the circle... but had ridden the prior version, still with the circles at X... and everyone else hates the test... But I like it because you can gain points for accuracy.

Odd that there are only a couple folks entered... Have fun!

I haven't ridden the new version either (at least that I remember) but it's not that much different from the old version. I guess I like it because when you have a lackluster mover and can do things accurately you gain points, and when you have a horse that is flashy and you still go accurate you gain a ton of points...... so yeah. I don't know why people don't just ride it.

As for developing canter on a circle, it's not that bad. It's kind of like developing it in a corner.

exact opposite here, the shows are the biggest I've seen them. We had a low level show last week where I went, and there was about 20+ people per class in training and about 10+ per division in all the other levels, where normally theres like 4-5

I'm thinking people around here might have migrated to schooling shows. Those have been turning away entries for being too full, or hiring a second judge. But 3-4 people in a TL class? That's like, wrong.
