If McCain wins the election pass me the gun...............

If McCain happens to win the US Election tomorrow then quite simply he has sold his soul to the devil and the four horsemen of the apocalypse will be saddling up. Either that or the electorate have a been in their bonnet about him being black. That really is the only issue I can see for anything other that a win for Obama. And then everything will ( Read more... )

For me, the daftness of the 'God is on my side' argument is in the logic of it. If you and I are candidates in an election and God is on your side and God is on my side then logically, either we both win or neither of us do. Since there can only be one winner, that's patent nonsense.

How about America vs Iraq? Each side claimed they had God with them then too. You could argue that one side had God, the other Allah - which means, assuming they are two different gods (and I'm not so sure about that) that it comes down to 'my God is bigger than your God'. We know what happened, but I'd say that was actually down to 'my Guns are bigger than your Guns' (capitalisation intentional).

If that's so, then does God = Guns?

Not so much God=Guns, but God= justification for using guns. It's the same old story - people feeling very slightly uncomfortably aware that going on the warpath isn't actually a nice thing to do, so they're casting about for an excuse to make themselves feel better about deliberately slaughtering their fellow humans, and religion/'God tells us to do this' is the most unanswerable, conscience-freeing, responsibility-evading excuse of them all.

I'm just not listening to any of the US political media this week. It's all a load of crap, the loony fringes of each side shouting from the rooftops any rubbish they can come up with to try and sway the 'undecided voters' - i.e. those so stupid they'd actually be influenced by the nonsense.

I've been quite surprised recently to discover that a couple of my friends - people I'd considered very intelligent and balanced - are virulently anti-Obama. Not exactly pro-Republican, but certainly terrified and furious at the thought of Barack Obama and his team of slightly-socialist liberal supporters getting into power. Hell, they talk of instituting a national health system! The world is about to end!

Dude, I'm crossing my fingers right along with you. Please do not let my countrymen be stupid enough to want Bush 2.0. I would like to get out from under the reign of terror before the year 2012/2016 =/

I just love the fact that Palin slagged off Obama by saying "Well, whats he going to do after he's changed the water back to ice?" as if thats a really bad thing!

I'm not American. But if I were, I would never vote for somebody who doesn't believe in Global Warming. Neither would I vote for a really old man who can't even hold up his hands properly because of tired muscles. Call me ageist, but it's a fact that he's completly on his last legs.

If Obama wins it'll be such a inspiring break-through.
