As an An Tirian, I would be a little wierded out if if were full body lions on checky Or and argent, regardless of posture or border, but if it's just a head, or a body on any other field, it feels fine. The normal An Tir populace badges are any of the following:
Chequy Or and argent, a lion's head caboshed within a bordure sable.
alternatively:
(Fieldless) A lion's head erased contourny sable.
the populace ensign is:
Checky Or and argent, a dexter tierce sable.
----
The An Tir field is checky or and argent. Their Majesties lions are rampant and wear crowns, but Their Highness' lions are couchant and do not. Their Highnesses also have a border sable.
okay, full body lion within an overall knotwork design, black on white ground and I'm thinking multicolors added to the outline of the design, just to pull it away from too much heraldic message... how's that?
The rampant lion with crown & wreath is for Kingdom/Royalty only but a knotwork style lion without those should be fine. Especially if it is part of a larger design.
Hope that helps.
