Hi! I haven't read your main story yet (um, it's a LOT long and it looks interesting but I have to do schoolwork first, alas) but I liked that you included this PSA. I took microbiology last semester and we spent quite a while talking about how HIV actually works, and it's latency, etc, so reading this I was reminded of the actual physical things that HIV does.

The only thing I'd add here is that people spread HIV the most right after they're first infected--that first two weeks to 1 month period. That is when the virus is most active in the body, replicating so it can start "hiding" in our cells. That isn't to say you aren't infectious at other times, but newly infected individuals who don't know they are infected actually have the highest rate of spreading the disease. Condoms = your friends!

You're right and thank you very much for pointing it out. I was going for more broad strokes when I wrote this but this is very much a detail which should have been included. Thanks for reading this PSA and providing the extra info (and hopefully when your schoolwork calms down you'll get a chance to read the fic. Don't worry, it won't go anywhere. ;)).

It took me two days to read this fic and I can honestly say that the best part about it was the PSA at the end. Thank you so much for the links and I plan to make Polaris Project apart of my donation schedule (I have three organizations that I consistently give to through out the year and now I have four). It's also nice to see that the Charity Navigator gave it such a good rating ( ... )

Oh wow, thanks for this amazing review. You've totally made both Maura's and my week with this. :) We're thrilled you got such a good connection out of this. The story's a difficult one to write (emotionally more than the writing part) but we both felt it was one worth writing. Again, we're thrilled you enjoyed it and that you're getting involved because of it. :D
