Okay. Madame Rowan taught me how to crochet circles. It's really difficult because you have to keep count of the stitches and add more stitches as you go.
Sure. *He pulls out his work journal, yarn, needle, and markers.* I wrote a lot of notes, and there are things called stitch markers that are like bookmarks that make it easier. You might still need to ask Madame Rowan to explain it to you properly, but I can show you what I do, at least.
Okay! So, you start with a chain like for the rectangle, except you join the ends together. And then you go around with double stitches, and then you go around again with the same but twice, and then you add the start again on each - I'm not explaining this right. I'll do it, and then you'll see. I gotta write notes as I go or I forget the numbers.
*It takes him a couple of tries to do the end right, but he shows Sylvie how Madame Rowan showed him to chain a initial circle.* So we chain four and join it up, and then we do six double stitches around that. *He counts them out loud as he does them, which is not entirely intentional.* And now in this row we want to do twelve stiches, so I mark where I started and then I go-*And he counts six stitches as he does them again, before adding a second marker, and doing another six, which brings him around to where he started, so he moves that first marker up one row to match where he is now. It continues this way for a bit with full running commentary, including all the bits where he still puts a stitch in the wrong place and has to go back, despite his careful accounting.*
[She watches him carefully. She's pulled some yarn from her bag and tries to imitate what he's doing but it's hard. She'll get it though.] I think I can get this.
The actual stitching is just the stitch you showed me before, but counting and making sure you're doing the stitch in the right place is really difficult. Madame Rowan was really cool though, she was just like, stich-stich-stich-stich-stich-stch-ch-ch whee done! No problem!

I know, she's awesome. I want to be as fast her. I just have to keep practicing.

*He finishes his current round off, before checking her work.* You always seem to end up with much neater stitches than me.
