I think that the whole issue of 12.5s getting leads isn't such a problem. The teachers usually take into consideration (or so it seems) who has and hasn't had large roles in the past musicals. For example, if my memory serves me correctly, Erica never had such a large part before, did she? Either way, I think you choosing pit band is an awesome choice.

However, I really don't want any of the girls graduating this year to come back. Rachel/Leanne/Brianna are all amazing and so on and so forth. I'd like a smidgen of a chance, thanks. :)

Hm, that's true. But then you have to ask the question - out of the people who are principals but not leads, (i.e., not Justin or Chris), do they have the right vocal power/presence for the role?
I hope they all don't. Chances are they'll all be leaving, though.

Regarding Economics... It only gets worse when you take university economics.

Prof: OK, can someone give me an example of complementary goods.
Me: Movies and action figures.
Prof: Very good, now... yes?
Numbnuts MacRetardedstein: But, wouldn't, like... golf carts and golf clubs be better?
Me(in my head): Because golf carts are rented, not bought, and there's not a rigid connection like there is with mediocre blockbusters starring Hugh Jackman and mediocre toys that look like Hugh Jackman, YOU FUCKING MORON.
Prof: Well, let's just stick with movies and action figures.

oh god. you want another good example?

a normal good is a product that, if you had more money, you would buy more of it. and inferior goods are ones that if you had more moeny, you would buy less of it, and more of a better alternative. like kraft dinner.

no way sir, i would buy tons of kraft dinner.

fine. but in theory you would buy better more expensive food.

no i wouldnt (he doesnt understand the concept of in theory apparently)

*aggravated* lets move back to normal goods. a movie is a normal good. if you had more moeny, youd probably go see more.

i wouldnt. i dont like the theatre

*seeing he cant win* alright. alcohol. alcohol is a normal good because if you had more money, you'd buy even more of it.

ohhhhhhhhh

I think the directors choose people who they believe would best fit the part. Whether they be gr9 or 12.5ers. Thats the was life is. They are aiming to get the best show possible, and if you are registered in the school you should have a fair chance at any part. Using Jeff as an example. He makes a great villian, so why not use his talents? If you are in grade 12 and you don't get the part you want, it isn't really going to matter to you who got it, just that it wasn't you.

Does that make any sense? Im working on about 3 hrs of sleep here (damn rowing!)...Someone get a tape of the show for me! I have an exam in the middle of the dates so I won't be able to come and see it. Best of luck all!

Now that I've got the net back up, time for my bit.

I was confronted with that question when audtion time came aroudn this year. I was perfectly willing to put down my acting hat for the year, and be a consultant, or co-director or somthing this year. but I also wanted to be an actor because my life is at it's best when I'm on-stage.

I asked the grade 12s that mattered this year whether I shoudl audition or not. they all, and I mean ALL, agreed that I should go for it becaus eI have the talent and skill and they like me being on stage. as a result, maybe some poeple felt they got shafted of a part, but each one agreed that I should go for it. on the same token, PVA always casts for whose best in what role, not who has the better talent. last year as a case in point, Ali B. has more acting talent and singing talent than Erica. Plain and simple, she's had more training. BUT Erica got the role of dodger because in all honesty, anyone else would've discredited the role.

In conclusion, I don't have a point.
