Remind me never to cut up a fur coat ever again. Seriously. I have fur in my nose, there was fur in my eyes, and after vacuuming my sewing table, I still wound up using half a lint roll getting it cleaned up. And after all that, I don't think I have nearly as much fur as I was hoping for the skating dress. Like, maybe half as much fur as I need. So ( Read more... )

Did you use faux fur for the green wool gown?

When I made my fox fur gown, I used an Exacto knife and cut through just the hide on the reverse - it really cut down on the amount of fluff in the air. You might want to get a cheap painter's mask just in case though. I used a scarf.

Yep, and almost all of it was just ripped on the grain, so there was almost no shedding. I'll have to remember the exacto for next time, though.

Thanks, but that was fake fur that I was able to rip on the grain. This real fur is for the skating dress that I'm making next.
