I love Gene, but as a Yank, I feel like I'm missing something because half the time I don't understand what the hell he's saying with those great one-liners of his. Instead of subtitles, I need a translation of 1973 UK slang into American, lol!

For example, in his very first scene in episode 1, he says "Gene Hunt, your DCI, and it's 1973. Almost dinner time. I'm 'avin' 'oops."

I've googled it, but I still don't know what 'oops/hoops means. *headdesk*

I thought, for one moment before I saw the photo, that you were talking about the US version of Life on Mars. Now, I've not seen that version, so I can't comment really... but I loved the Brit version and I'm so glad you've got to see it!

I've seen 6 or so epis of LOM-US, but it was enough to know that while they might have copied the format of the LOM-UK, they didn't capture the soul of it.

Harvey Keitel is pretty good as an old-school, tough guy New York cop... but he ain't the Gene-Genie!!

LOM-US was a decent show, but LOM-UK was one of a kind, probably one of the best TV shows I've ever seen.
