I'm really glad you mentioned that one little bit of dialogue, because it was so hard, in 100 words, to at all get across the epic amounts of staggering intimacy I wanted in the scene, and I hoped that would work to get it across. :D

Especially since its even more intimate to us, as we know that IS his real name! Its not just "baby, call me L", its "dont use my pseudonym, call me L." Naomi might not ever get to (oh wait, she doesnt, that whole dead thing) see that its intimacy, but WE get it! So good, so good!

Yes! I'm very big on giving cues in prose as much as dialogue. (Though in the magical AU all these take place in, Naomi quit the FBI after the BB case and works for L, and they solve crimes while Watari does his Awesome British Butler thing. :D)
