That horrible, tearing feeling.. Ripping at his heart, his lungs, stealing his breath away as he ran, faster yet, as the coward he was becoming, towards the safety of his hotel room. His steps were clumsy.. he battered himself in his haste.. tripping, the king slammed his leg deeply against the edge of a stair, his arm falling against he banister ( Read more... )

His steps thundered up the steps, barely catching the door beyond them coming to a feeble close. Axel winced, a hand gripping his side as he came to a rather abrupt halt. Again, he winced, gathering himself before he simply swung the door open.

"Puff puff You know Puff huff for an old Mouse huff huff wheeze you run really fucking fast...."

"Why--!?" he began, began to inquire why Axel's followed him, but his tone, so broken, so lost, his voice's suicide, cut itself off in horror, a knife across his neck, tearing apart his life with one swift proverbial slice. The pain intensified. He couldn't control himself. He didn't want to. This was his room, and so what if Axel was here!? The king flattened his ears against his head, pressing his face against his knees. Trembling. Ever trembling. He couldn't stop.

"Why..," he pleaded, more brokenly, less passionately, unable to look up at Axel. "Did you follow me..?"

"Because, Mouse boy. You need to learn to let some of thise crap goooo."

Axel closed the door to lean back on it. He needed to catch his breath. Stupid mouse gave him a good run. With a hand clutching his chest, Axel left the door to sit on the bed before just flopping backwards. "You got really broken up over the tyke's reaction."

He was choking. Axel couldn't distinguish if it was the king holding back sobs, or his lack of air from taking everything so hard. Either way, the pained gurgle was followed up with a swift CRACK as his head went smashing back into the wall once more, this time in frustration. The hood fell from his features, the material gathering at the base of his neck, as if trying to loosely strangle him, leaving the air and a drawstring to do the rest.

The mouse wasn't that insane. A bump to the head, he could do. Endless bruises. A heart shattered into fragments.

"This..isn't the first time.. I've done this to someone..," the king choked out, finally, trying desperately to blink enough water out of his eyes to restore even a semblance of vision. He was failing, miserably, as the moisture collected and fell, more rain from the ever-black sky, deep charcoal orbs only to be hidden once more behind slightly twitching eyelids.

Why...was Axel here with him..?

He hadn't seen where Mickey ran.. Luckily, general directions from various NPC's people in the Nexus and Stan's own commentary had kept Ari from being too lost.

Now.. now it was a matter of guessing which room Mickey was in. Comment after snide comment, with equally rude responses from Stan, as door after door slammed in his face. He sighed, staring at this next door, and knocked likely. "Sir..?" He called quietly. "... Sir, have you seen a mouse around... about waist height on a teenager.. I wish to speak to him...."

"And if it's a madame in there, my most sincere apologies for my.. uh... partner, here."

"Erk." Axel froze up again, looking down at...Ari, was it? He blinked awkwardly, rethinking the situation. "Erm...He's..." A hand drifted over his shoulder slowly to gesture to the door. "Yeah...."

Ari blinked. Of all the people, that guy was... "... I understand." He mumbled, and shut the door.

"Was he in there?"

"... The true owner of that place is out right now. We'll go try another door."

"You're looking for the Mouse King, right?" He blinks, still a bit awed by the whole situation.
