I've been told that my Tweeting in general, especially my retweeting of others, has gotten way too political again. Actually, I've been told this by exactly one person, and that one person is as far removed from me on the political spectrum as a snowman is from the Equator. But it still bothers me ( Read more... )

I'm forced to wonder how worried you were for Bush's life. The man had a mock documentary made about his assassination, that's got to count for something. Somehow the indignation and outrage was lacking on that one, but I digress....
That said, I abandoned twitter largely because of political rants. And yes, you can guess what sorts of rants those were, based on my known opinions. Which doesn't really change anything; it's your twitter, you can say what you want, and those who don't wish to read it know what to do. It's not that hard.

A mock documentary made about the Bush assassination? Haven't heard anything about that one. If it makes you feel any better, though -- and I know you won't believe me -- I was worried about Bush's life too while he was in office. Same with Clinton, Bush Sr., and even Reagan (though with Reagan we're starting to go back too far for my young self to have really formed more than the most rudimentary political opinions; all I knew at the time was that true "good guys" and "bad guys" probably didn't exist on my side of the TV screen, so talk of "evil empires" left me a tad cynical even back then).

I don't care who the President is or what he (or, if it should ever happen, she) believes; no one in a civilized society deserves to catch a bullet over a difference of opinion. Even if I don't personally like that President's policies or stated beliefs. There's a point, y'know?
