I know, right? I was quite impressed by the giant rat-hog, I felt genuinely grossed out by it.
Yeah, considering how much series 1 was pushing for Merlin/Gwen, he should have shown more enthusiasm for trying to help her. Totally out of character.
The writers just seem to have TERRIBLE memories. Gwen and Merlin are friends! (this episode) Arthur and Merlin have bonded! (episode 1) Morgana exists! (most of the show) And so on.
Yeah, they must have a bigger budget now that they know it'll do well.
The first series was well-balanced and progressed much more evenly. Now that the basics are established, it seems like they're just going around doing whatever they want without caring about continuity.
I feel some things are just happening soooo faaaast. Although I am waiting for someone in Camelot besides Gaius to know about Merlin's powers, it has to happen right? The pace is a bit off I think. Although I do get it if they have to wrap it all up this series... hmm.
I should become a maid. Then I'd have two hot guys lusting after me. Bah.
Icon does not entirely fit the post, but it's the only Merlin icon I have >.<
Lancelot knows, but he's not going to show up again for a while. I agree, it would help develop the relationships better if more people knew about his magic. I like the idea of everyone knowing except for Uther and Arthur, haha.
Seriously, clearly I'm choosing the wrong career path.
Yeah I know he knows, but he's disappearing whenever he wants to. I'd like it if one of the main characters besides Gaius knows. I actually hoped he was going to tell Morgana... but nooooooooo. I think it would add to the tension and the character-that-knows's relation with Uther and just more secrets.
I KNOW. I know a servant isn't all that, except if you're Gwen. Lucky bitch >.<
So, apparently Guinevere's vagina is the most powerful force in Camelot.
This is the #1 problem that I have with Arthurian legends. At first they're magic and pulling swords out of random geographical features and slaying evil knights and monsters and having sex with their siblings, and then BAM! the epic awkward romance of Arthur/Lancelot/Gwen sucks the joy out of everything. Marion Zimmer Bradley was correct to have a threesome scene in order to give us something exciting about the whole horribly angsty, messy business.
I sort of feel like the writers thought they had to get the 'plot' elements out of the way (Morgana's powers, Gwen's tru luv x2) so they could then be free to focus more on Merlin. Lazy writing.
But then this episode had an incredible amount of Morgana/Gwen, which I love. Hopefully they won't forget that when they go back Merlin all the time.
I'm really liking Morgana/Gwen after this episode. They're so cute! (But not as cute as Arthur/Merlin.) Hopefully this series will start to feel more cohesive soon, I definitely agree about the lazy writing.

The writers seem to have forgotten that Merlin and Gwen are actually fond of each other.
