I am so sick of it.

Lazy fucking comic shop guys. I grow tired of your shenanigans. Over the last year, I finally got fed up with my regular comic shop and his inability to correctly order or pull my purchases. I work for a living and I get some weird books. So I could not come in every Wednesday to monitor him like a child to make sure he got everything right. ( Read more... )

Mail order and deal with shipping costs & not having New Comics day but hopefully have larger selections and service? I know Midtown Comics out of NY does subscription shipping...

it is starting to sound tempting. I like going comic shops for the browsing. That is a big negative mark for this new store anyways. He hardly orders anything outside the norm. What he does get tends to be sold out by time we get out there on the weekend.
There is a new shop that opened up close to the college that I might give a chance to before I totally give up. He orders independent books and has a insane selection of Silver Age comics to drool over. The discount isn't as big but he bags and boards everything, which is almost like getting an extra 10 - 15 cents off.

That's too bad man. My LCS is generally pretty good about getting my stuff to me--although I don't really get too many books, but several of them are more "indie" or whatever passes for non-mainstream these days.

I think you're right about the Diamond excuse. On the couple ocassions I have had problems with issues not being in my file it is *always* Diamond's fault, never the store's.

And I've found they really don't like it when I'm telling them about what I've found on the internet re: release dates, reports by other people about the issue, or etc..

Well, I hope you get your problems sorted either with the current place or by finding a new source for your comics!

Here is one of those "wink and nod" moments where people forget you are now the customer and not an insider like them. One day when it was only the three of us in the store, the 'business partner' of my old comic shop dude once started bitching and moaning about how much easier his job was when people didn't have the internet and just bought whatever he had on the shelf.

But it simply doesn't make good business sense does it? Like you say above, there's money to be made if someone is asking for some issue or release or whatever--how hard can it be to make sure it gets listed on the order form?
