Excellent post.

I never really took to fanfiction writing. It just wasn't me. I wouldn't stop anyone else from doing it though.

But even as a writer, you are influenced by other writers you are a fan of no?
I have detected a bit of slight Douglas Adams winking and nodding in your work before.

So even your original fiction has some fandom to it.

I was in on a fan fic project a few years back, when I collaborated with UK Atheist and put out a STtNG and Bab 5 crossover. I had fun doing it, and they wanted more chapters from me, but I eventually got burned out. It was fun to ignore certain canon though, and that's mostly why I did it. :-)
