Birthday Thoughts

Oh for the days when I lived with my parents and birthdays meant something and the parties were grand.  I miss those days.  I haven't had a real birthday celebration since I moved out when I was 18.  Here I am, turning 25 on Saturday and it turns out that Danny has to work Saturday and Monday (Labor Day).  I admit the money is needed right now, but ( Read more... )

I haven't had a real birthday celebration since I moved out when I was 18.

That is the way it is for most folks. I've always traveled on business as an adult and have been out of town for many of Susan's and my birthdays. We celebrate when we can, on days close to the birthday, but not always on the day. You are still young. Once you hit 30, you won't really care to celebrate your birthday anyway. ;)

I'm excited for the gathering we're having Friday for my birthday but I'm not at all excited about turning 29 :(
I had to organize the gathering too.....I knew if I wanted to have any type of celebration....I would have to set it up myself....my husband's not a planner either....at least we've come to terms with that eh? :P
I'm SO ready for Jack do be done with the nighttime feedings too. Oy. Last night he woke up 3 times before 11. GAH!! Usually it's only once....maybe an hour after he goes to bed....and then once more at around 2. So over them!!!!

Hope you and Eva have a nice little celebration just the 2 of you! :o) Pumpkin cake sounds soooooooo good!

This year Joel actually planned something, which is a major first. And he actually tried to pawn the planning off on me (was going to be a surprise, but then he told me about it and I knew he told me about it because he thought I'd take the bull by the horns and plan it myself), but I flat out refused. He actually did a great job. It was a first in 6 years of marriage.

Not to be a downer, but 25 was my least favorite birthday. I planned a picnic with friends and it was so very un-fun. It was the year I learned not to have high expectations (or any expectations) for my birthday, and every birthday since has been significantly better.

Yeah, Danny and I had a talk about birthdays. I asked him if deep down inside, he missed having birthday parties and he does. I was actually a little surprised. I did decorate the house in streamers and baked him a giant birthday cookie with candles last year, but he seamed really not into it, but I think it's because none of his fam was here and our close friends were out of town. I'll make next year better.
