Brittana Review of "Mash Off"

Nov 19, 2011 21:17

How am I supposed to write this when all I can think of is potential ear kisses? I guess I’ll find a way, but know what my mind is one giant ear kiss full of vertical spooning and thus terribly distracted (and kinda mushy). They really should not release promo pics and then leave us hanging for two weeks. Really shouldn't. But they did. Alas. Woe ( Read more... )

And thank you for a comment that brightened an otherwise fogily fuggy Sunday morning :)

The worst part about Finn outing Santana is that moment before he turns around to speak. In that little bit of time you can see him making that choice to go there. When he called Brit an idiot or when he called Kurt faggy it all just blurted out. In those times he wasn't thinking and what he was feeling just spilled out of him. It doesn't make it ok, but it shows it as a mistake. But here he is calm and you can tell that he knows what he's doing is way over the line, but because it is Santana and his pride he does it anyway. And yeah, just, even when he thinks about it he still doesn't understand how brutal that was ( ... )

Fuck, that concious moment really does drag it all down. I know she's not a good person, I know she bullies him, but still it felt like such a low blow from him. And not only the outing, because well he doesn't understand what he says, but that he adds that comment about Brittany - a whole new level of cruel. Ugh. So much ugh. He doesn't trade blows with her, he tries to drown her.

Oh yeah, Santana's family is going to be very interesting to meet. And it breaks my heart so bad to think of that little kid growing up and constantly being knocked down by her own blood. Brittany truly does seem to be the only innocent and bright thing in her miserable stinking life.

I've not even going to touch the Finn thing, well except to say this I really don't think Finn did it knowing what he was setting in motion or what he was taking from Santana, if they were alone in the corridor he would have done the exact same thing, he's an idiot but he's a kid in high school and it's fucking high school where unless you're forced to have a larger world view about yourself and your actions then you won't (Santana has been but Finn hasn't for a lot of reasons boiling down to the fact that he's average at best with no reason to look further than himself) your biggest problem will be something trivial like a maths test - but seriously I don't think anyone could have seen that someone would take what he said and put it on the TV - I'm not defending Finn at all but he didn't set out to completely ruin Santana's life on this scale it just sort of happened like everything with Finn he's really not much of anything he doesn't mean to set things in motion he just sort of trips and stumbles and falls into it... he's just an ( ... )

I'm with you on teh Sue love. I recently rewatched random episodes from all the seasons and I began realising that I honestly support Sue and with each episode I also realised I totally understood where she is coming from. She is painted as the villain, but in reality all she seems to be concerned about is the well-being of her girls. She is forcefully shaping them to strong individuals in a community that is full of double standard and chauvinism. She makes them sharp, she makes them strong, she wills them to win and to fight hard despite unequal odds ( ... )

oh totally but I guess for me the scene with Santana really opened Sue up as a character to the other characters because as viewers we see everything, characters moments alone, with groups, with individuals and how they come off to others but the other characters in the world don't, they only see how the character acts when they are around them, like everyone saw Sue's approach to Becky in the beginning as horrible but we saw her with her sister and saw how she was trying to actually help Becky and how she has continued to do that - the scene with Santana she apologies to her in front of Burt and Will (why is he there by the way? I mean ok Burt is the other candidate but Will... he's just some dude) - Will reaches out to Finn the younger version of him and he can bitch on and on all he likes about how they're a family but the favouritism to Rachel, Finn (now Blaine) he picks the ones he think can make HIS old dream come true while Santana is right it's uneven and unfair to the others who are stuck being 'family members' in the ( ... )

Thank you :)

Yeah, OUaT is gorgeous. It's a shame though it's reached the point where they're starting to straighten the characters out. But unfortunately that moment appears to happen in most every show with subtext. Unless it's glee, where they run with it and create the most perfect of otps out of random touches and even more random comments.

True, but there is still the overall theme. Emily is only one who can break the curse. The Queen cursed everyone because her joy and happiness was taken away, ie, the Queen's loved one. The best way to break the curse, is to give the Queen love back. Sooo Emily has to become the Queen's new love! ;)
