Premise: For the first 20 years of his life, Sam  wondered why his parents went so easy on him. Whether it was school, sports or career choices, Sam's mom and dad always let him get by with the least possible effort, while at the same time pressuring his younger brother Keith to excel. As a result, Sam skipped college, took a dead-end job and now ( Read more... )

Ray Wise as Satan is delish!
I thought the Ray Wise had by far the best screen presence and was, as you said, brilliant casting. Only topped by the little dog. ;)

Reaper is not my thing but I think it's well done and it has a good chance on The CW.

The camera work is usual for this type of series. Nothing that was spectacular or really original in that area.
That's an interesting comment considering that it was directed by Kevin Smith which is a rather established director for this type of film. It's interesting to see if "normal" episodic TV directors will be able to keep the tone and level of the pilot going forward.

Indeed that little dog was a riot! It is a very good dog actor do be able to put that little scene ;)

Kevin Smith is indeed established in the world of directors but nothing in the camera worked wowed me or was different than most TV series. I always try to add a blurb about the soundtrack, actors' skills, camera work, and even sometimes editing, in my reviews.

I enjoyed watching this pilot episode very much, they couldn't have picked a better person than Ray Wise to play the devil, also the dog bit was very funny. On the whole dramedy thing, i thought there was a good mix of drama and comedy, hopefully that is kept up throughout, because some shows down the road just concentrate on one more than the other. As you stated he is not truthful to everyone so i want to see how much drama is in this show. Also the whole sending evil back to where they belong, seems to easy a task from the devil or too charitable.

I didn't have too high expectations for this show, so it turned out very well. Most definitely ill be tuning in to watch.

It's Clerks meets Brimstone. Meh.

I have to admit my favorite scene was the one in the DMV with Christine Willes. I actually laughed at loud at her closing line about Sam being a moron, just because it came out so well. But as for the rest of it, meh.

I liked the concept of having a different type of collection device each time, but that alone wasn't really enough to make me want to watch it this fall.

Indeed Willes' scene rocked. If it wasn't for the fact that "Reaper" will air at 10 p.m. in my area, I don't think I would add it to my watch list since there are other shows (and better ones) airing in the same timeslot CW put it.
