Sacred Heart Lobby - 6pm (DAY: IDK)

Dec 29, 2007 15:28

I tapped the foot impatiently as I stood in the middle of the lobby of my former workplace. The practice I was working for in Seattle was so nice compared to this dump. I looked around for a familiar face, anyone who could tell me where that geek ex-boyfriend of mine was. You really couldn't miss him, with that giant hair of his. Glancing at my ( Read more... )

After changing Sammy's diaper -- something I was starting to become good at -- I gently set him in his new harness. Perry and I had gone baby shopping several days before, and I had bought almost every single thing in the baby shop, ending up with several heavy bags -- and boxes -- of baby stuff. "'Cause I gotta have faith, faith, faith. Baby!" I move his little arms around to the song I am singing. Once he's all set, I hang the diaper bag -- now as full as it should be -- to my shoulder and I put on his little blue beanie hat on his head. "OK Sammy, lets go." Perry was probably waiting for us at the lobby by now. It was great, going to his home after work every day instead of my empty apartment. Since we had started dating, I practically lived at his place, except I hadn't moved anything from my own place there ( ... )

"There you are! I've been trying to call your apartment all week!" I said sweetly, feigning a smile, "My apartment has been so quiet without him! How's our little guy? " I stepped closed, leaning down and cooing the last sentence at my son.

I stood back up, and read off the summons I was holding, "The child is to be returned to the primary guardian, the mother, until a custody hearing is set." I left off the part about the mandatory meetings with the social worker that had been assigned to the case, "I'm here to get Sam, JD."

"No, you're not." I tell her determined and take a step back. "Do you have any idea what you have done to him?" I feel my anger grow at the memory of Sam clinging to pretty much everyone who held him the first days. "I'm not letting you take him away, I don't care what that says," I nod at the papers she's holding.

"Well, well, well!" I took a step back as well, looking him up and down, "We can do this the easy way, which would be you handing over my god damned child.. or the hard way, which involves me calling the police," I held up my cellphone in a threatening manner, "You are disobeying the current custody ruling, I am complete in my right. So, either way, I will be leaving here with Sam.

Your choice."
