I am off work for two days because of my bad back. Which annoys the hell out of me because when I am lying down, like I am now, I feel fine and like I should be at work. It's only when I get up that I realise that taking the time off is really the only sensible option. I have said that I will definitely be back on Saturday morning, which I will ( Read more... )

well if it doesn't hurt to much while standing you should try and have some walks and move about.
ya might want to go back to the doc to possibly be referred to a physio at some point since it dosnt seem to go away, and if its just soft tissue they could tell you what to do to improve your back supporting muscles.
its no idea going to the gym as long as you hurt.
anyway thats enough know besting for now:P
hope youl feel better soon

What should I do if it does hurt while standing? I just went downstairs to get something to eat and it was agony! Is it harmful to rest it or good for it?

You're very useful to know :-D

well if it hurts doing something its best to rest it. just that like if you are lying down or sitting (maby in a bad bad way knowing that sofa of yours!) just as far as iv been told by wisearses is that when you start just imobilize yoruself like lying down and sitting your not using your muscles, wich is nice if they are hurting, but then it is just temporary since the problem from the begining could possibly be that you havnt used your supportive back muscles enough but then you cant train them up until its painfree. so i mean the same if you get supports its good to get the muscles to relax but then you have to start training them up, maby you should take pilates classes (not as bad as aerobics anyway:P? wich is good for posture and such things. depends what your job offers really

I hope your back feels better soon! Try icing for a little while, then later heating it (to see which one makes it feel better). A hot bath usually helps when I have back pain. Do you have a bad back, or did something happen to injure it?

I've also gone to a masseuse and chiropractor for office-work-induced back pain before. That worked very well.

Do you have any video games you could play, or books you could read?
