Dean drags him away, and he doesn't care, can't care: it's the beginning of the end and it's his fault. The road to hell may be paved with good intentions, but he hasn't only travelled that road, he's gotten to the end and knocked on gates, thrown them open. He can't fathom it, a billion, two billion, five billion souls, the end of everything and it's his fault.
The only thing that makes it worth going on is Dean's arm around his shoulder, dragging him back through the old convent, out into the grounds, into the Impala. Dean doesn't let him go, hand tight on his shoulder even as he steers them backwards down the driveway and out onto the road. They hit the interstate, nowhere a destination but thefuckoutofDodge, and Dean's still holding him (holdinghimtogether) when the roof of the convent blows off a mile behind them, shining light of fallen angel a false dawn in the night sky

"Sammy," Dean whispers. "We'll fix this. There's no one I would rather face down the devil with. I gotta do it. It's my, whatchacallit. It's the only way I can make amends. And I can't do it by myself. I need you with me on this one. You're my brother. You're my Sam."
Aww! So, SO adorable! I love protective, big brother Dean! Shielding Sam from whatever it may be, whether it's a cut on his knee or the freakin' apocalypse. Man, they are amazing together, and you wrote this beautifully!
Aw. nicely done. I like the recall to wee!chesters. I also just like Sam's POV here, and Dean being all forgiving and cute. The only thing that threw me was the use of the word "best girl" to describe Jessica. But other than that, awesome job! I really enjoyed it. Kudos! -crazytook
*shivers* Powerful piece, so full of emotion. I love shining light of fallen angel a false dawn in the night sky and He wants to scream. He wants to smash his face against the windscreen. He wants to un-be.

I love the false dawn of Lucifer, and Dean telling Sam not to look. And the flashbacks to wee!chesters.
