It always seems to throw people when i tell them that i still get nervous before shows sometimes. "Really?" they ask? Yep--i, who is generally pretty damn comfortable on stage and has been doing this for years, still get nervous before certain shows sometimes. And for some reason, this all-ages show at the Beat Kitchen had butterflies churning in ( Read more... )

I mean, you're spending the money on them.

actually.....

in lawrence it was extrememly common to go to a show as late as possible, thus, if not a perpetual guest-list person, paying a lesser door cover since you were only going to be seeing one of the bands.

The exception to the rule. I bet you'll never see that in Chicago.

i dunno - i guess i thought that was widespread, but i know here in Milwaukee i've only been charged nothing or less if i arrive during the last band only about 50% of the time.

it's not anything i ask about anymore, cos i want the openers to get paid even if i didn't see them.

Yeah, it's all good. Once again, the dude running the show thought we were the shit, so if nothing else we're even more established with The Beat Kitchen now.

My first HiFi show in several years did not let me down in the least. I hadn't seen Paper Chase in about 2.5 yrs either and they were as amazing as ever. I thought R&B's last two songs were good... great bass/drum back-and-forth, but otherwise I couldn't really get into it.

Good to hear! I'm glad you were able to finally get back to one of our shows. Hope the new stuff sounded right by you.

Seriously, it is sick and wrong how good the pAper chAse continue to be. It's not like their sound evolves much from album to album, but when you start out near perfect, how much room to evolve is there, anyway?
