... and God help you if you use voice-over in your work, my friends. God help you.

Hot damn, I've officially signed up for Robert McKee's "Story" seminar! Most of you probably know McKee from the great--and frequently misunderstood--Spike Jonze/Charlie Kaufman film ADAPTATION, where he was played by man-god Brian Cox. Yes, I think this will indeed serve as a fine excuse for not going back to the Studio Conservatory ( Read more... )

6 for 2! 6 for 2! tamburlaine September 6 2008, 02:48:33 UTC
I live in Manhattan. I'd let you crash on my couch but I live at my mom's and, you know, I don't know you that well. But I look forward to seeing you. I know all the places hip and with-it kids hang out, trust me.

Perfectly understood and all right. Let's definitely get together, I trust your guidance to hip and with-it joints. Let's reconvene once plans start to come together more. I doubt I'll have a moment's free time on that actual weekend (the seminars all three days start at 9am and end at 8:30pm, so they're goddamn intensive) but I think I'd like to hang around a bit longer if I could anyway. Hopefully said family members will be able to hook me up. We'll get to that when we get to that.

Nothing beats a little adventure on the road... american_arcane September 6 2008, 03:05:35 UTC
...and since you're more dedicated to things than I am, it should serve you even better than it serve me. :)

(I was wandering unemployed from couch to couch without much of a plan and even less money in the bank. And, sadly, I did spend most of that time no couches--not out having actual adventures like I should have.)

Can't wait to hear the stories. :)

Also--that class should kick much ass!

Having a goal to build the destination around (i.e. having a girlfriend in Vancouver) also helps as motivation. :)

But yeah, one of the many ways this trip will be good for me is that it will teach me to be a bit more budget conscious, while hopefully still having adventures and an actual good nights sleep now and again.

If I could lend my couch, I would...but we haven't enough room for the existing denizens.
Also, did you know I was taking that week off? If you were to, say, come into town a little early, I might be able to meet you in the City.

Oh yeah? AND I'LL BRING YOU COMICSES.
We'll have to take at least ONE picture, though, so Kali can be jealous(ish.)

Are you actually in the city proper or can get there? It's looking like I'll be bussing up there and staying at a hostel, so how's Thursday the 23rd sound to you? The seminar is intensive and covers the whole weekend. I'll definitely plan around when you're available.

I think I owe you tacos and milkshakes. Both of which you shall have, sir, once you get to Chicago!
